Another surname list that I belong to has recently started a discussion of where most of
the researchers have based their research on. . . it has been great to read the details
of their research. It truly has sparked conversation on the list.
Then today to read Carole's description of her research. You've been the able to
visit some of the places I'd like to for research purposes. Thanks for sharing the
info that you found and didn't find.
Happy Family Hunting,
kemis massey

From: Carole Johnson In the All Saints Church in Naezing is a plaque in honor of the
Curtis Family. According to the Warden of the Church, they were Puritans and left on (I
believe) a ship called "The Lion" (I'll have to double check my records).
I have photographs of the baptismal font that is still in use in that church. That church
is
not used now on a regular basis. There is a smaller place is the village where the
parishioners worship (has good heat). The column for the font was brought there
by the Normans in the 1100s. The font itselft is carved out of what appears to be marble
and has been in place since the early 1500s. It is worth the trip to England to visit
this church and I highly recommend a visit. If anyone would like a copy of a photo,
I'd be happy to email it.

For those asking where in U.S. my CAMP family settled -- they
didn't -- I have Mary Camp born 1563 Nazeing, Essex, England,
marrying 1585 to Thomas Curtis in Nazeing and with this marriage I
"daughter out" of CAMP family. Born to Mary and Thomas was William
Curtis, my ancestor who came across the pond and died 1672 in
Roxbury, Suffolk Co, MA.
