Can anyone help piece my Camp/Kemp and Sanders/Saunders family together? According to the
Daviess County, Kentucky Vital Statistics Marriages of 1853, Catharine Ann “Kitty” Sanders
was born in Adair County. Since the census’ lists different ages for Kitty, she is
estimated to be born about 1822-1827 (probably closer to 1822). James and Elizabeth
Saunders/Sanders was in Adair Co during the mid 1820’s and appears in the Todd Co., KY
Census in 1830.
Here is what I have as a tentative family group sheet on James and Elizabeth (Camp)
Sanders/Saunders:
James Saunders/Sanders was born abt 1780-1790 Virginia and he died between 1830-1840
probably Todd Co., KY. He married Elizabeth Camp 23 Dec 1806 Culpeper Co., VA. [They may
have had 1-2 more older daughters according to census.]
James Saunders and Elizabeth Camp’s children:
1. Martha Sanders born abt 1816 Virginia and died after 1870 probably Daviess Co., KY.
She married Tinson Stout 30 Jun 1844 Daviess Co., KY.
2. Mary Sanders born abt 1817 and is last seen in the 1870 Census as unmarried.
3. William Sanders born about 1818 Virginia and died 1850 Daviess Co., KY. He married
Catharine Camp 25 Dec 1839 Todd Co., KY. [I have not proof he is the son of James and
Elizabeth. It does appear that William was head of household in 1840 Todd Co., KY Census
which lists females the right ages for Elizabeth and her daughters.]
4. Elizabeth Sanders was born between 1820-1825 and died 1845-1850 probably Daviess Co.,
KY. She married John Watkins 13 Dec 1845, Daviess Co., KY. [I have no proof that
Elizabeth is the daughter of James and Elizabeth.]
5. Catharine Ann “Kitty” Sanders was born abt 1822/1827 Adair Co., KY and died after 1894
probably Daviess Co., KY. She married John Stout 15 Nov 1853 Daviess Co., KY. [John
Stout was the father of Tinson Stout; he was born abt 1788-1789.]
6. Amanda Sanders was born about 1829 Kentucky. She died after the 1880 Census in which
she was unmarried.
