For those looking for more info on Thomas Campe, b. abt 1507 in Essex,
England, you might go to the LDS website at:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=ancestorsear
chresults.asp and type in search data [Thomas Campe, born 1507, England].
You'll get a host of files on this ancestor of ours.
You might also try the Society of Genealogists Publications (in London) at:
http://www.samjraymond.btinternet.co.uk/sog.html.
In the 1990's I met face-to-face with Anthony Camp, who at the time was the
Director of the Society of Genealogists in London. I was trying to
establish a verifiable link with our ancestor, Thomas Camp, born 1661, who
is the one who came over from England to James City County, Virginia, in
about 1679. Anthony said I wasn't the first to seek the positive
connection, and many had looked, but tat that time no firm, verifiable info
had been found. [See Anthony's books numbers 5 and 6 down the list of the
Society of Genealogists publications]. I don't have them...
I have, in the past few years, been in direct e-mail contact with people in
Essex what are very familiar with the records there. I even made a
contribution to the old Church in Nazeing. Have gotten some interesting
data from them, too much to just sort out in on sitting (e.g., land
records). Just haven't had the time to dedicate to following it up.
I met with the Mann's in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, in the 1960's, and they did a
remarkable job given that they had no internet, no computers, etc. They
were able to correct several of the errors from the Camp Bulletins published
in Georgia in the 1920's and early 1930's.
And don't forget
http://carriecampmemoriallibrary.com/ccml.htm, Barbara
Farris' website, if you haven't been there...

Could you please see if you have an Armistead Camp in your books?
Armistead
is in the 1840 census of Williamson County, TN. I believe Pamelia Jane Camp
who married Abram McLemore in Williamson County in 1839 is his daughter, but
need proof.
Thank you,
Carolyn Smotherman
