Family tradition is that Thomas Camp who left a will in Rutherford County NC
in 1798 was married to Winifred Starling. Where does this come from? Is
there a deed or will or marriage record showing her married to Thomas Camp?
Also, tradition states that three of his sons married Tarpley sisters. Are
there any documents to support that claim?
Thanks.

Some of the (seemingly overwhelming) evidence I've seen comes from multiple
sources, especially the CAMP-KEMP Family history, Volume I, beginning on
page 9.
The records of the Camp Family Association beginning in 1923 as well as much
follow-on correspondence also confirms this.
I have been trying to find Winifred Camp's background for several years with
limited success. Page 16 of the CAMP-KEMP history states that she was of
Welsh descent, and genealogies I've read indicate her father was Richard
Starling in Accomack County Virginia.
She is of special interest to me also, and if you discover any further
records or her, her marriage, gravesite, etc., please let me know by e-mail
DIRECTLY.

Thank you Buck for replying. I have both Vol. 1 and 2 for the "Camp-Kemp
Family History" by the Mann's and I have all of the old Camp Bulletins. I
believe that the Mann's state that most of the material about the early
Camps in the books came from the Camp Bulletins. There are a lot of claims
in the Bulletins that are not supported with documentation and some of the
claims have been proven inaccurate. As more records are becoming available
to more researchers maybe the puzzle will become easier to solve.

Pat
Buck,
Do you have a photo of Benjamin Camp and Winifred Arnold? I just found one
in a CAMP/ARNOLD book that I have. There is also a photo of their home.
The Book is: "Our CAMP-ARNOLD Ancestry" by Mabel McEachern Stewart, 1963.
