Hi fellow searchers,
This is further to my questions about the CAMP name in an earlier post.
My great grandmother, Phebe CAMP b. 1853, married Nelson DEFOREST. Phebe
had four sisters and a brother. Her parents were Adam CAMP b. 1816 and
Mary [SKINNER?]. Ontario census gives Adam's racial origin as Irish. Does
anyone have a connection to this family? If so, I would love to learn more
about them and to share what I have.
After Phebe's early death. Nelson was left with an infant and another
little child. Thus he promptly married Teresa Belldora CAMP, d/o of Peter
CAMP b. Upper Canada 1823, and Susan b. 1835. I assume they may have been
Phebe's relatives.
Peter CAMP claimed Scottish descent and Susan claimed Irish descent in a
census. The wedding occured near Milton. Does anybody have a connection
to, or background to share on this family? I have other details, if wanted.
These CAMPS married into a double U.E. line, DEFOREST and BOWMAN. Adam
CAMP was born in 1816, early enough for his parents to have been U.E. from
the U.S. So far I have not been able to get my CAMPS out of Canada. Where
would I look for possible U.E. land grants? I think the information may be
available on the net now. A breakthrough would be so wonderful! If
anybody can help I will be grateful.
Thanks for reading and considering,
Mary
