Hello Camp listers,
Thanks for all the information on Connecticut Camps, but must admit I am
confused by all of them. My original post was for information on Hannah Camp
Hatch widow of Mark T. Hatch and married second to my John Sturdevant Jr. of
New Milford, Litchfield County, CT. I was wondering where Hannah came from
and who her parents were. My information was that she was born in 1776 and
is buried in the Bridgewater (originally part of New Milford) Cemetery. I
feel pretty sure about the 1776 birth date, as my grandfather who provided
this information, was from Bridgewater and his father Eli was supervisor of
the cemetery, so I assume 1776 was what was on her stone.
Marjorie pointed me to a Hannah Camp born 1774, daughter of John Camp and
Hannah Jewell. John died in Salsbury, Litchfield County, and Hannah Jewell
was born in Salsbury so at least they lived in the same county. John Camps
parents were Hezekiah and Lydia. As I mentioned my line has a propensity for
naming their children after their parents, and as John Jr. and Hannah Camp
Hatch had children named Mary and Hannah this could be a clue, as John Jr.'s
mother was Mary Sanford.
Mary H. provided some information on the Sanford connection, my Mary Sanford
was a granddaughter of Samuel Sanford and Hannah Baldwin. Her parents were
Jonathon Sanford (son of Samuel) and Hannah Platt. John Jr. had a brother
named Samuel Sturdevant.
There is also a Botsford connection here, in that Mark T. Hatch was a son of
Joshua Hatch and Phoebe Botsford.
So there are a lot of connections here, but not sure exactly what manner of
connection. I am still not sure where Hannah Camp Hatch came from. I was
assuming she was from the John Camp that was one of the original settlers of
New Milford. Are these John Camp's the same? Any further help on sorting
this all out would be greatly appreciated. Is there anywhere on line where I
can see a family tree of the Connecticut Camps?

John, I didn't get the first posting about the Connecticut
Camp's. I have a
Lydia Camp, she was born in 1840, daughter of Curtis Fairchild Camp. Any
connection?
