Hi Chuck!
I'm very excited to hear from you. My dad did work at a steel mill-Republic Steel.
He was laid off in the early 80's and that's when we stopped coming to San Diego
to visit Gramma and Grandpa Earl. What was Earl's last name, by the way? Anyway,
I've been working on the family history for about a year now and have been amazed to
see the resources available to us. My husband's family isn't nearly so well
documented. I would love anything you wanted to send me, I can make copies and return the
"loaner binder" to you. Also, I would really appreciate any pictures you have
of my dad- when my parents divorced my mom didn't want to keep dad's family
photos, so she only kept just one or two for my sister and I to have. I remember his navy
picture in my house growing up, but we were never able to find out who had it after he
died. It was a single shot of him and then a crew picture as well.
I work for the University as you can see from my signature block, but I'm also a
doctoral student in Educational Psychology here. My husband Dan was in the Army for
several years and for a time we lived in Seattle. How strange to have been so close and
yet so far... I have 3 sons-Sean, Zachary and Daniel, Jr. They keep me pretty busy.
Tell me about your family...

Kelley,
My name is Charles Henry Camp III, but call me Chuck,
and My father was your father's brother. So, we are
first cousins that have never met. I was trying to
think back to when he had lived in New York and I
thought he had something to do with a Railroad or
steel company. We were out of contact for a long
time. Our grandfather, Charles H. Camp, spent 10
years researching the family line and accumulated a
mass of information. Nobody wanted it when he died,
so Grandma Camp gave it to me. Over the years I've
worked here and there on it, trying to sort through
over 20 binders of hand typed pages in which he was
reseaching other Camp lines for those he was in
correspondence with. I also have all of the letters
he wrote and the answering letters. I've alson
started putting some of it online at
Ancestry.com. I
have some data in a loaner binder that may have some
info you don't have. If you are interested I could
send that to you. My mother also thinks she has
pictures of your father when he was much younger if
you would like those. Well, the bell just rang just
rang and I'll have students pouring back into my room
any minute now (I teach 5th grade), so I have to end
this but let me know if you'd like anything.
