Hi all,
Carol sent me this email, I know some of you would be interested in reading
it.

| By chance I came across your site. I was searching for where I used to
live
| CAMPE HOUSE in Muswell Hill, London, England.
|
| The almshouses that Lawrence Campe built in Friern Barnet Lane, Whetstone
| ( the outskirts of Friern Barnet - the well to do that live in that area
now
| like it to be known at Whetstone....)
|
| Anyway - here is the coincidence. My Auntie lived in one of those
| almshouses, before they all got modernised and the flats at the back were
| built. I remember going to the house and it having a winding staircase -
it
| had one room downstairs that also had the kitchen in - they did make a
| partition so it was separate. There was also a toilet downstairs. I think
| she lived at 209 Friern Barnet Lane.
| My family lived in the school house that was built next to the school ST
| JAMES. They lived there, as a member of the family was the vergen and
| sexton( not sure of the spelling!) of the church down the road St James...
| My brother thinks the almshouses were built in 1612 or there abouts.
|
| Just thought you might like to know one of the people your relative help
| house.
|
| regards
|
