How much of what we have do we have documented? Some of my data is
inherited notes and copies from books that were not properly referenced. I
do have copies of handwritten Bible records from the Starling Camp Bible as
referenced in Jeanette Holland Austin's book "Georgia Bible Records" and a
copy of a letter from W.W. Camp to "Mr. McRight" who we are pretty sure was
John Beacham McRight. If this is William Washington Camp we believe him to
be a brother to Starling Camp who was the father of Evaline Camp who married
John Beacham McRight.
I know that some of the information in some of the books is misleading.
I do not have the documentation for this page copied from some book but you
can easily see how this sentence cannot be factual "James M. Camp born ca
1870 married April 26, 1866". It is true that this could be a typographical
error, but if we could each contribute what we can document, with our
sources, perhaps we could sort out the facts from the theories.
I am not being critical of any of the information. I treasure any bit
that may be followed up on, but after a time it becomes overwhelming trying
to sort it all out.
What do you think? Should we try to each submit only what we can pretty
well document and see where we get from there?
AMEN, Linda.
Unfortunately, genealogy books are filled with errors, and some are terribly
misleading. You are so right about looking for the documents to prove
everything.
