Larry,
I attempted to get a copy of your Columbus (Doc) Camp's death certificate.
The good news is that there is one recorded, the bad news is that the
Vital Records department for the state of Georgia is moving north of
Atlanta and the office was closed.
To everyone on the list researching in Georgia: The Vital records office
(Birth, divorce, death, marriage records) for the state of Georgia is
relocating from Trinity Street downtown Atlanta to Skyview Lane in
the Brookhaven area. This was a real shock - I was just there 10 days
ago and there was no notification posted anywhere. I went across the
street to the GA Archives and they were not notified in advance, either.
The office is "supposed" to reopen on October 16th. If you are planning
a trip there, my advice would be to call first.
Back to Larry,
Your Columbus is recorded as C.D. Camp with the correct death date.
The death was recorded in Floyd County (which is next to Polk).
I'll plan to retrieve a copy as soon as the Vital Offices reopen.
Have a great weekend!
