As you are aware there are Camps all over the northeast in the late 1700. In
the Old Durham Cemetery Phoebe Canfield Camp 1687 / 1774 the wife of John
Camp 1685 / 1767
1774 - internment in the Durham Cemetery, the headstone inscription reads; "
In memory of Mrs Phoebe Camp, late widow of Mr. John Camp, who died Oct. 18,
1774, in the 85th year of her age.
The Canfields are also numerous in Ct and have history worth investigating
from; Founders & Patriots - Order #2653 / DC Society # 76
Through Phoebe Canfield decedents are entitled to membership in the
Society of Colonial Wars. Phoebe's grandfather, Sergeant Thomas Canfield, being
approved member. He was the brother of Matthew Campfield, Charterer under King
Charles. And the Campfields trace back to the Battle of Crecy [1346] where
their services brought them a large grant of land on the River Cam.
