Dear Mike and Larry and everyone,
Joel Brewer was my ggggrandfather. He was married to Nancy PEEK and
lived in Polk County, Georgia. He owned the land where the cemetary
for Bethleham Baptist Church at Fish Creek is and Elias CAMP preached
at that church. The story we have is that Elias CAMP Brewer was named for
Larry's Elias. Elias Brewer was later a judge in Hall County, Georgia.
It is an odd coincidence that three generations later my mother, Virginia
Brewer then of Atlanta, would marry James Camp, then of Paulding
County, Georgia without ever knowing of the prior relationships of the
two families.
To those who've waited for my photos of Naezing and Frien Barnet,
England: Please continue to have patience with me. I've had
to be content with just skimming my e-mail and barely responding
to anyone. We had a disaster in our home this summer which necessitated
major repairs. This in addition to a young girl from Northern Ireland
with the Ulster Project staying with us, our daughter participating
in the program and our other three children all in different directions.
Now that school is about to begin, I should be able to catch my breath!
Larry: I did forward two photos to you earlier in the summer for posting
to the list. Did you receive them? If not, I'll resend in addition
to the other photos.
I haven't spoken to Tom Camp in a while. Has anyone else? As you
may recall, Tom was visiting Naezing while I was leaving. He told
me that a local chap has written an extensive book regarding the
history of Naezing and that the CAMPs are prominent. He even took
Tom around to visit a couple of the Camp homes that are still standing.
He gave me the information and address to purchase the book; however,
I haven't sent for it yet. It is a bit tricky in that the church folks
who are handling the book are all volunteers. Funds must be in
British sterling. I've been a bit hesitant to request too much.
These folks are extremely hospitable and Tom is very protective of
them and I don't want to do a thing to strain any relationships.
According to what Tom has gleaned, our Camps were Puritans. I suppose
after the death of ole queen Elizabeth they just couldn't handle
James. When Cromwell got started, they must have been first in line
for the boat. Another odd coincidence: while at the church, Tom
met a man who was descended from Starlings who said that the Camps
and Starlings go way back. Could it be that our Camps and the Starlings
immigrated together and our Winnifred Starling's line also be from
Naezing?
Anyway, thank all of you for your patience. I should now be in a position
to follow through on all my obligations.
Mike, what is your connection to Joel Brewer? Do you have anything
regarding the parentage of Nancy Peek Brewer?
Larry, please let me know how to forward the photos.
Thanks all!
Carole
