An article came out in Ancestry about this virus - here is an excerp:
"Another malicious worm virus has been flooding the e-mail channels for the
past few days. This one, called "W32.Badtrans.B@mm," usually comes as an
attachment into your e-mail with a subject line of only "Re:" and there is no
content within the e-mail. The worm has spread like wildfire since first
being discovered in Europe on 24 November..........According to Symantec's
Web site, this worm's destruction level is low, but the changes it makes to
your system allow the recording of keystrokes, such as passwords.
Additionally, this worm "might attempt to gain access to . . . other
system-level security settings. It might also search for openings in the
Internet processing components of the computer to install a program on that
system that could be controlled remotely by someone over the Internet."
Attachments can be named any of the following: Pics; Images; Readme;
New_napster_site; News_doc; Hamster; You_are_fat!; Searchurl; Setup; Card;
Me_nude; Sorry_about_yesterday; S3msong; Docs; Humor; or Fun. The worm adds
two extensions to these names also. The first extension is either .doc, .mp3,
or .zip; the second is either .pif or .scr..........."
