Hi Buck,
I was also reading the e-mails on the Camp e-mail list and came across this
one, where you told Tim about your great grandfather Joseph Walter Camp. My
great grandfather Jonathan James Camp was Joseph Walter Camp's 3rd cousin. They
were both about the same age when they enlisted in the Civil War. We're not
sure of Jonathan (J.J.) Camp's exact birthdate, but he was born between 1831 and
1833. He enlisted on March 2, 1862. He was in the Madison Light Artillery from
Monroe, La. He surrendered in Linchburg, Va. on April 13, 1865 and was
parolled on April 18, 1865. We believe two of his brothers were in the 31st
Louisiana Infantry, Robin M. Camp and Franklin M. Camp. We believe they were listed as
R.M. Camp and F.M. Camp. My great grandfather J.J. Camp was also the great
great grandfather of Daniel Singleton. Daniel planned a Memorial Ceromony for
J.J. Camp at the Pine Grove Cemetery in La. for May 15th to honor him and mark
his grave. Maybe you read the e-mail he sent to this e-mail list about the
ceremony. Well, I won't take up any more of your time. I read that you are in
Germany and you have to borrow a computer, but feel free to email me when you get
home if you would like to know more about my line.
