As I recall his description, the document provided by Doug Kendrick
is one of those found years ago by Dwight Allen from the actual
court records. As I recall his descriptions of his findings, he
then found where that court action was being reversed subsequently
for all or most of those originally accused. Through tracing land
deeds, Dwight found that John's land was never actually confiscated,
and he eventually sold it. According to Kenneth Thomas, that
scenario was common along the frontier during these chaotic post-war
years. Certainly, his successful use of the federal pension payment
records would appear to offer the easiest solution, if there is one,
to John's DAR fiasco. Dwight Allen had run into a "wall" with his
discovery of the missing page in the court records.

Ruth,
I am still trying to figure out where in Carlisle the War records
are
kept. I want to check on Job G.'s service during the War of 1812
for
Vermont. I'm hoping that this may let us know exactly where in CT he
was born.
Bob and I don't think that Judy's line is ours. We're basing this on
the research we did in CT Historical Society records.
From our research I am of the opinion that the Camp that married a
Glover is the line we belong to. I am basing this opinion on the
fact that Job named his eldest Warren Percival Camp. I think that
Job's wife was Susan Percival. I am still trying to prove these
opinions as fact
I'll let you know what I find out.

My Camp line traces to NJ. . .but a researcher once suggested the
family was
originally from CT.
Do those of you with CT Camp roots have a stray Joseph Camp
descending from
one of your progenitors?
Joseph Camp (b. c. 1748 NJ & d. 1824 NJ) married to Mary. Their
children
included: David, Eli, Rhoda, Thomas, Elijah, James, Phebe,
Elizabeth,
Hannah, Sarah & Asa. My line is from Thomas.

I just came home from Washington. I went to the DAR library
yesterday and
talked personally with the genealogist who was one of the people who
worked on
the Camp problem. She told me that she was very familiar with the
whole
situation. She also said that it wasn't that DAR wanted to take
John and Thomas
Camp off of the approved list. It was the records in North
Carolina that
made that necessary. She knows that it made many very unhappy and
was sorry
about that. She said that the best thing to do is to find evidence
that the
treason charges were recinded. She said there was no evidence that
there was
any change after the accusations were made and that a court case was
involved.
DAR would welcome a change in the status of these two men, but it
has to be
found.

There are a lot of Camp families that lived in CT.Our Camp line has
Job G.who was born in CT around 1792. He served in the Vermont
Military in the War of 1812. His first son was born in 1814 in
Vermont - that was Warren Percival. He also had Brothers named
Royal,
james and a couple of others. I'm at the wrong computer for my
records.
In the 1830s the family move to New York state. Job G. stayed there
but Warren P. Moved on to Nebraska around 1865. His youngest child,
Byron Warren was born in 1864 in New York state, Warren County.
Three
or four of Warren's children went with hime to Nebraska. He had at
least five children. Warren died in Nebraska in 1867. The family out
there then moved to St. Joseph MO.
I have decided that this a moving branch of the Camp family. Every
generation you find them in a different state.
