Hello all, I am seeking your help. I am looking for information pertaining to Jacob Lepley
KAMP (also the various spellings as above). Jacob was b. 1851, Friendsville, Selbysport,
Allegany Co, MD (now Garrett Co). Jacob's wife was Mary Anne _____, b. 1860, Somerset
Co, PA. Jacob was a son of John, b. 1823, Hesse-Darmstadt, Grand Duchy of Baden, Germany.
John and his brothers, along with their father immigrated after their mother died in
Germany. John's wife was Emma "Emily" _____, b. c. 1830, Somerset Co, PA.
John and Emily had 12 children, that I am aware of. In various records, i.e.: marriage,
birth, death, land, taxes, church records, social security, family records, etc...the
surname has appeared (and still varies today) as Camp, Comp, Kamp, Kampe, Kampf, Kemp,
Kempf, Komp, Kompf, Kumpif. The family settled in Friendsville, Selbysport, Allegany Co,
MD (now Garrett Co) and Accident, Allegany/Garrett County, c. 1845. Jacob and Mary Anne
were in the Cove area of Accident. Some other's also settled in the Cove, other's
located around Sang Run, Friendsville, and Grantsville, some went to Oakland, while
other's migrated later into Allegany Co, MD (after Garrett County was formed) and
Somerset Co, PA. Any information that can be shared about the family, especially
regarding Jacob Lepley KAMP, and Mary Anne _____, is greatly appreciated. Thank you for
your time and help. Fran
