Thanks for the response, Norm. Did your Dad give any reasons for thinking
the info was wrong? I've found that there are errors of various kinds in
most of the sources I've seen...esp. other people's family trees, and some
of that is based on them copying and accepting errors that came in earlier
trees or printed sources, too. I guess we weigh the evidence that we get
and choose the one that feels the best, or has the most cooborative
evidences. I like to have at least three different sources verify a fact before I
accept it as plausible. Even then, I'm a skeptic.
Since my maiden name is Camp, I've worked on the Camp line for a number of
years, and collaborated with cousins, etc. I keep an open mind about
information, and am willing to revise it if it can be proved or even suggested
with a lot of back up "evidence" to support the change. When i put a fact
in my tree, it is always with the understanding that future evidence may
surface and that all sources must be evaluated by future researchers. Of
course, the parts we know best are the parts we lived...the people we knew
personally, etc.
I try to be as thorough as possible in citing my sources, so if someone
comes along and says, "oh, that's bunk"...I can reevaluate the sources, or
demonstrate the reliability of the sources in accepting the "fact." Anyway,
glad to have your input. I understand your concentration, for the moment,
on other lines of your family tree. I am working on my sister-in-law's
family at present, but skip around to other family lines from time to time.
I've been going back through all my printed notebooks of information and
entering them into Family Tree Maker...it's really handy to have them on the
computer in one place, so I can look something up without going through
several notebooks. There is always something new to dig up!
Enjoy your day.

I don't have anyone. As I learned that some of the information was not
correct from my father, I simply deleted them. I haven't gotten back to
the
Camp/Campe line. Working extensively on the Gentrys, Kemps and mcCollums.

Proof is relative with some of the older sources. Look at all the
sources, compare, and than make the most likely choice. Norm, who do YOU
have now
as the wife of Nicholas Camp?

Hi folks,
Don't believe this. Ms Farris took that off my fathers tree and it along
with several other bits she has posted is wrong. There was much that she
transposed as well from my own trees, I would only use information from
that
site as a starter. Prove everything or its' nothing but ... you guessed
it.
