Thanks again. I did not mean to imply you were wrong or not knowledgeable
about Nicholas. I understood that she wasn't this Sarah Elliot. I just
thought you might have had some information on another Sarah Elliot who
might have married him. I am sorry to have upset you--it is obvious I have.

Nicholas Camp did NOT marry a Sarah Eliot nor did my email imply such. He
married a Sarah but her surname is unknown. One needs to do considerable
research to arrive at correct information. Some of us have gone to England to
see information first hand. Often there is no information to be found. The
information about Sarah Eliot is easy to prove for yourself, yet the rumor
persists that Nicholas married Sarah Eliot.
He made his way to America with his wife on board the ship Lyon under the
Captainship of William Pierce. The ship set sail from London, England on 22
June 1632 and arrived at Boston on 16 Sep 1632. Also on board were Rev.
John Eliot ( the Apostle to the Indians) and William Curtis, who married Rev.
Eliot's sister, Sarah Eliot.
I am a Camp descendant and have done research for over 35 years and have
published several books on the Camp families.

Thanks for the reply. So who is the Sarah Elliot who m Nicholas Camp in
1626 in England? Have you come across her? I am just doing the Camps and
have used Barbara Ferris' book from 1989 plus whatever is on Ancestry.
They
are one of the last ones in my tree. I have also never found the arrival
date for Nicholas, have you? Or are you from the Curtis line. I have a
friend who has Curtis but not sure if it is this line.

There is some confusion over the father of Nicholas Camp. There were at
least three Nicholas Camps who were born and baptized within a few years
of
each other in Nazeing, England. John D. Baldwin III wrote an excellent
discussion on this subject for the June 1997 issue of "The Connecticut
Nutmegger". It is generally believed that this Nicholas was the one who
was baptized
on 17 April 1597 in Nazeing; the church records refer to Nicholas as the
"sonne of Old John Campe."
It is well-documented that Sarah Eliot, the sister of Rev. John Eliot and
daughter of Bennet and Lettice Eliot, was married to William Curtis 6 Aug
1618. Sarah, her husband, their four children and her brother, the Rev.
John
Eliot, immigrated to Roxbury in 1631 also aboard the Lyon. Buried in Eliot
Burying Ground in Roxbury, MA. Thus the wife of Nicholas Camp is still
unknown.
