Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
It has been ages since I have posted to the list; however, it is with great pride that I announce the appointment of my son LJ, Larry Junior, to the class of 2007 at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. He follows his father a veteran of Vietnam, His grand father (Ellis Camp) who landed on the shores of Normandy, his ggrandfather who served in WWI (Columbus Camp) , his gggrand-father (Elias) who served with the Confederate States of America and his gggg grandfather (James) who served with the Revolutionary patriots. I take great great pride in this tradition of heroism and any support we can give our men in arms and peril is not only due but our patriotic duty.
This Camp line is from North Carolina to Gwinette County and then Polk County Ga and now resident in Colorado.
Thanks for allowing a proud father his moment,
Larry
I have put the following data on the Camp web site:
1880 Clayton County, Georgia
Canada Cemeteries - Beverly, Canada (thanks to Jim Camp)
English Parish and Probate Records - Added Cambridgeshire, Devon, Derbyshire,
Dorset, Essex, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent and
Leicestershire.

Barbara,
As good intentioned as it may seem your web page defeats the reason the
D.O.D. did it. I don't want some terrorist getting my nephew's address off
the Camp Site and sending him something very bad in the mail. Please stop
this ASAP.

Many Camp families have inquired about the process of sending donations to
the Carrie Camp Memorial Library. Monetary and book donations are accepted
and really, really appreciated and needed! Even though this is a non-profit
organization, there are expenses to running the Camp Web site and Camp mail
list, Camp message boards, Internet access plus office expenses such as
paper, postage and various office supplies. To send your donations (monetary
or materials) please send to Carrie Camp Memorial Library, 1656 City View,

Hi Guys,
I also saw the posting by this Linda and wrote to her today. I didn't even
think of forwarding a copy of my email to you. Thanks for thinking of
sending a copy of yours to me. I mentioned you (not by name) in my note to
her, telling her that you had opened up this line for me. I didn't want to
offer your names or your info until I cleared it with you. Maybe now we can
all share with each other?
I got a CD from Buck Camp in the mail today. He had taken pictures of the
Thomas Camp III graveyard. I don't suppose he would mind if I sent you a
copy of the CD if you would like to have it. Let me know and I will have my
son copy it and mail it out to you.
I heard you had some pretty wicked weather back there. Hope everything is
OK. I know the news stations always show the absolute worst but it looked
pretty scary with cars slip-sliding all over the roads.
I'll let you know if I hear from Linda and you do the same, OK?
Bye for now,
Sharon
Hi, Linda. I saw the information that you entered into the
Camp-L(a)rootsweb.com site. My great-grandmother was Lucindie Camp, Johnathan
James Camp, Jr.'s sister. I have a picture of Johnathan James (J. J.) Camp,
Sr. sitting in a wheelchair. Would you like to exchange copies of our
pictures? I would love to get a copy of yours. Let me know the cost and I
will reimburse you. Lucindie Camp married Robert E. Lee Disotell. My
grandmother, Era Disotell Taylor told me that J. J. Camp got frost bite in
the Civil War and after the Civil War he always walked with a bad limp. In
the picture I have, it appears that J. J. may be missing some toes on his
right foot. In the picture he is wearing socks. I don't know who Sarah
Edwards' parents are. Do you? Do you know where J. J. and Sarah are buried?
I have other information on the J. J. Camp family is you need it. Daniel

Archives Microfilm Publication, 1930 U. S. Census for Polk County, Georgia

explain to me how these CAMPs are related to each other?

Linda,
I have checked everywhere and I did not find any information about Claborn
and Mary having a son, John. I show Claborn and Mary having two children,
Viney and Sarah. Can you tell me how you connected John to Claborn, as I
have John and Frances and would love to connect John to a father.

William Brooks Camp had a son named Edmund Kennedy Camp who married Mary Jane

Hi List,
Are there any Camp's out there who originated inHertfordshire, England?
I am looking for a connection from William and Rachel Camp from Stanton,
Hertfordshire, cira. 1800
Judy
England
I ran across the following information that may interest researchers of
the line of Connecticut's Walter Chauncey Camp (1859-1925). It contains
a few of his writings. To find them, go to the Website below and do a
search for "Walter Chauncey Camp" (without the quotation marks).
http://library5.library.cornell.edu/moa/moa_search.html
Also of possible interest is that it appears he edited a book in 1923 --
Walter (Chauncey) CAMP {US?} [M: 1859 - 1925] Book Of Sports And Games
(ed) [n|1923] -- which appears on the list of books from 1923 with U.S.
copyright not renewed.
He is not in my direct line, but I wanted to share.
(By the way, the above Cornell University Website, "Making of America,"
appears to be a good source overall).

Mr. Ed Barnes I too am descended from Thomas Camp of the Virginia area.
I believe that one of hi descendants named Bradford Camp went to Georgia.
When he left Georgia to settle in Louisiana he changed his name to Bradford
Kemp. If you should have anything in your files to substantiate this, please
let me know.

Subject: [CAMP-L] Found my roots!
Hi, my name is Linda Camp Peckenham. I don't know if you remember me. I know
you get an awful lot of mail to go through, but I just wanted to share with
you what I have found out. I first wrote you asking for info on my
grandfather John N. Camp from Webster Parish, La. Well, it turns out John N.
Camp and Jonathan Camp are one in the same. Not sure why he shortened his
name. He was known as John Camp Jr. in La. and John N when he married my
grandmother. Well anyways here's what I found. I am also decended from
Thomas
Camp of England. His grandson Thomas Camp who married Winnifred Starling,
had
a son Joseph W. Camp, born in 1741. He married Susannah Roundtree. They had
10 children, I believe. The last one being Claborn Camp, born in 1785. He
married Mary Taylor and their son John Camp was my gg grandfather. He was
born in 1805 in NC. and he married Frances (Fanny) Cawthon on Nov. 9, 1826
in
Franklin Co. Ga. Their first child, a son, is my great grandfather Jonathan
James Camp, born in Jan. 1833 in Ms. He married Sarah Edwards and their son
also Jonathan James is my grandfather. I have a picture of him with his
first
family in Minden, La. in 1904. His father Jonathan is also in the picture.
He
is in a wheelchair. I believe he was injured during the war. My grandmother
(Lucy Leona McKay) was Jonathan Camp Jr.'s 3rd wife. They were married on
Mar. 9, 1922 in Leake Co. Ms. The reason I had such a hard time was the link
between Jonathan and John N Camp. Its funny isn't it? Well, sorry for the
book! but it is really exciting when things start coming together, although
alot of work. Just thought I'd let you know.
Linda
