Joyce,
My gg-grandfather, Joseph R. Camp, was born in NJ (based on census records)
on 8/06/1808 (from cemetery and other records). I think he was related to
another Camp (Daniel) who was married in Cape May, NJ before moving on to
Ohio at about the same time/place as my Joseph. Unfortunately, I have not
been able to find any other NJ information that links them together or offers
any clues to Joseph's parentage.
I know from the records I have found so far that there were a lot of Camp
families in NJ at the time.

Terry, As far as I know most of my Camps stayed in NJ. But I can't find
anything on the Camps that are directly related to me before 1845.
Joyce Jwht120(a)cs.com
My Camp Ancestors run like this:
Thomas Camp (1747-Aft.1811) married to Nancy Tarpley (1750-1814) (my 6th gr-
grandparents)
Sherwood Camp (1777- Aft 1860) married to Lydia Kennedy (1780-Aft. 1860) (my
5th gr-grandparents)
Edmund Kennedy Camp (1804-1848) married to Penelope Willingham (1811-?) (my
4th gr-grandparents)
William Brooks Camp (1831-1862) married to Julia Miles (1831-1907) (my 3rd
gr-grandparents)
Edmond Kennedy Camp (1852-1939) married to Mary Jane Huddleston (1862-1946)
(my 2nd gr grandparents)
NOTE: brother-Linton Decatur Camp (1851-1938) married to Frances Monarach
Camp (1851-?)
Julia Isabell Camp (1885-1972) married to Joel Webster Ashley (1880-1958)
(my 1st gr-grandparents)
Ila Mae Ashley (1911-1980) married to James Collier Scott ( (1901-1972) (my
grandparents)
Carolyn Scott (Living) married to N. H. Stanley (Living) (my parents)
Naeta Nan Stanley (Living) married to Kenneth Price (Living)
NOTE: Edmund Kennedy Camp (my 4th gr. grandpa) was a brother to Josiah
Washington Camp (1808-1896) married to (1) Louisa Camp (1818-1879) married
to (2) Pernecia McDonald.
Josiah was the father of Francis Monarach Camp who married the
above Linton Decatur Camp, and Josiah was the father of Burrill Washington
Camp (1846-1928) who married Louisa Jane Ross (1857-?), who was the father
of Andrew Martin Camp (1878-1956) who married Mary Ann Theresa Ashley
((1878-1916) (the sister of my Great Grandfather Joel Webster Ashley).
So, to make sure we are all completely confused now, one of
L.D. and F.M. Camp Camp's daughters - Fannie Ura Camp (1886- 1967) married
Marshal Luther Hamby Jr. (1886-1971) and, their daughter Living Hamby
married Joel Clyde Ashley (1913-March 2002) (my great Uncle)
Now, I would appreciate any help with spelling if I have
mis-spelled any names here and with any dates and cemetery records of the
above families. All information will be greatly accepted . I am trying to
get a book written to my mother on my grandfather and grandmother's
ancestors coming from entering the New World, thru all migrations to
Anderson County, Texas were she (and 2 of her children) were born.
Thank You......Nan
I am also interested in NJ families. Any information about the Camp families
located there in the 1700's would be very valuable. Mine went from there to
Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and then to Iowa.

Hi All,
I don't know if any of you have problems finding records at a moments notice,
well I did, so I put all my family info into Binders, and I still have
problems finding what I want. This did take time because I had spent 30 years
on McAdams Research plus some other Lines. I was looking for this census
below, in Erath Co.
I have a question about the people who are related to the St. Clair line. Is
St. Claire and Sinclair the same family variation of names?
I had never noticed this Kemp family below until, I started researching the
Camp Line.
I found these Kemps on the census in Pigeon, Erath Co, this little community
was between Huckabay & Lingleville, (Erath Co. TX. This family was living
close to my Polly Matilda Camp-Bullard and other family members. Wondered if
anyone could be from this family.

Just in case someone out there is looking for these people. Hope this helps
someone. They are probably related to my line. I just do not know where the
belong. I looked in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery (Record) that was near buy
but did not see any of these people.
Was there also a Hawkins Camp?

My Camp family moved from Dale Co., Alabama sometime after the 1850 census
to Anderson Co. TX. They moved with his wife's family by the name of Rogers.
There were about 7 or 8 families that moved to Texas. The Rogers and Camp
families only stayed in Anderson County for a few years because they were
listed on the Johnson Co. Tax roll by 1859.
My ggg-grandfather was an only son of Sextus Camp & Jane Crawford Camp.
My ancestor was James Elbert Camp b.5-2-1819 in Georgia or possibly
Campbellton, FL. About 1839/40, he married Mary Pauline (Polly) Rogers in
Dale Co. AL. They both died of influenza in 1862 in Johnson Co., TX.
Their children were:
Nancy b. 1841 in Dale Co. AL
Martha b. 1844 in Dale Co. AL
James Sextus b. 1845 in Dale Co.,AL
William Gabriel b. 1847 in Dale Co., AL
Susan Jane b. 1848 in Dale Co., AL
I believe that there were other children born in Texas besides the one that
is documented Thomas Irvin Camp b. 1860 in Johnson Co., TX.

Ira Camp, brother to Andrew Martin Camp. I would love to exchange

Laura
Doris,
I have been trying to track down several of the Camp families that moved to Anderson County Texas from Alabama. I come from Edmond Kennedy Camp his brother Linton Decatur Camp, who married Francis Camp. Then, my Great Aunt Mary Ann Theresa Ashley married Andrew Martin Camp.
Nan
Barbi T.
Small world, I am also related to Barbara Kirkland through the St.Clair
line and am a Camp also, however my Camp line came from Alabama. They from
moved from Alabama to Anderson Co., TX in about between 1851-1858. They
were on the Johnson Co., TX rolls, in 1859. Several Camp children married
in Johnson county and several moved on to Erath Co.
It was not uncommon to interchange the name "Camp" & "Kemp" then or now.
Growing up with the name "Camp" I usually had to correct people on their
spelling of "Camp", they invariably wanted to spell it "Kemp".
Some years ago someone contacted me about a "Camp" family in Erath County.
But I couldn't find any connection with my line. I am sorry that I don't
have the name of the person inquiring (too many computer glitches)

Dear Bobbie, Mary & All,
How funny! Well, this is a good way to break the ice, glad you wrote me. I
am not so sure how my Camp Line goes. :>( Right now I am just kind of
confused.
I am related to Barbara Kirkland on my mother's side, the Like's. But am
related to the Kemp/Camp Line on my daddy's side.
I will kind of give you a little clue on where I am going with this line. But
at this point, it appears that my line used both the Camp and the Kemp name.
But I am always open for any new ideas.
I believe one of these older Kemp ladies below, is the Wife of Burrell Kemp
Sr., this Robert Kemp is my Robert T. Kemp who moved to Jefferson/Wayne
Counties IL. Burrell Kemp married a Nancy Foster, I believe in Wake Co. NC.
The Kemps lived in both Sumner Co./Smith Co. TN. They married into the
Gregory's, Haneys, Ramsey's in those counties, but I find the same family
clusters in Wayne/Jefferson Counties in IL.

Robert T. Camp and Kissa had a daughter Polly Matilda Camp who married Nathan

(My line) I think it is possible that Kissa was a Ramsey, only because she
named a son Ramsey Camp. In Sumner Co. TN, Robert Kemp is living next door
to some Ramsey's.

This makes it interesting for researchers.
Well, you all have a good day.
Sincerely,
