Well Cousin George, I am from Rev. Joseph's line. Have you ever heard of
Lutie E. Camp? She was my Grandmother and I can't locate her. Any help is
appreciated.

Yes, Mumford is just outside Talladega, and Talladega is south of I-20
between Birmingham and Atlanta. Talladega, as you may know, is a big
NASCAR race town.
I'm a descendant of Delilah P. Camp, sister to Joseph Camp, and live in
Fairhope, Alabama on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay.

Hi I just got in on the tail-end of this conversation, so could you tell me
where Mumford, Alabama is? I also belong to this family. Thank you.

Hello Pat,
The Cedars Plantation at Munford, AL was built by my great-grandfather,
Joseph Camp. He was the son of Joseph Camp and his second cousin, Elizabeth
Camp. Elizabeth was a descendant of John and Joseph a descendant of
Benjomin, both sons of Thomas Camp and Winifred Starling.
The Cedars is still standing, remodeled of course, and is now or was a year
ago last sum;mer, a bed and breakfast. My two daughters and I spent a
delightful three days there in 2001. The owner said many descendants of
Rev. Joseph had visited there but I was the first who had the name Camp. My
grandfather, James Philip Camp, was born there in 1858.

Great!!!
I assume you could open and view all the photos. As I said, I'm NOT a
professional photographer and sometimes go overboard with my digital
camera....

Received mine Buck! Thanks again - they are just wonderful.

Cousins, I have been looking for a different "Bigheaded John." It seems that
in the times past I have come across this name as a pseudonym for one of the
royalty. I tried the encyclopaedia, a search for anyone with that name. All
to no avail. Has anyone come across this "Royal" name? I hate to look at
each of my 16,000 names that I have.
Thad
I have noticed that in some of our Camp Line also!!! Ours is From Thomas III
down thru Valentine, Daniel etc

That is not known at this time and still being researched. Has anybody come
across this family?

The children listed are the children of George's first wife, Nancy Maria
Ferguson. This census list is for George Daniel Camp and Martha C. Nance,
they married Sep 1869.
George is the grandson of William H. Camp b 1804 VA and Catherine Whitehead b
1808 VA. I do not know that your Charles Brooks Camp and this Charles are
the same. Does anyone have any information?

Hi Harold,
My Hicks line is on my mother's side of the family and not
(as far as I know) connected my Camp line. My
first Hicks ancestor was listed on the 1850 Stone Mountain, Georgia
census and was Jeremiah Hicks married with sons
William and James. Nearby was a Cola Hicks I presume to be
Jeremiah's mother and a Millie Hicks with a 12 year old son
also named Jeremiah. What I presume is that Millie was the
widowed daughter-in-law of Cola and sister in law of my Jeremiah.
I can't find a trace of them in the 1860 census. Then in 1870
Jeremiah is listed with a new wife, Nancy Alemada, and three
children, all by his first wife: Robert, Louisa Jane (my ggrandmother)
and Caly. Jeremiah served in the Georgia Militia during the Civil War
and remarried in 1868. I assume his first wife left him with three
really young children. The James from the first marriage also served
in the CSA and is buried in Stone Mountain. I don't know what
happened to William. Son Robert married JoAnna Camp (I only know
the name of her father, which escapes me at the moment)
My ggrandmother, Louisa married Robert Brewer of Polk County
Georgia. Caly never married. The only hint I have that they are from SC
is based on census records. They were close to the Wade family
who were also from SC. If you run across anything I'd appreciate
hearing from you.
THANKS,
Carole

I show Daniel Camp married Sarah McKinney, daughter of John & Jean McKinney.
The dates of birth for the last 3 daughters of Daniel are strange. I checked
the Camp/Kemp book and there were no dates of birth listed for the last three
girls. The dates look suspect and I hope someone else has more info on that.
