There seem to be lots of Andrew J's. I'm not sure that the son of Benjamin
Camp and Nancy Lyons is actually an Andrew J. He may just be an Andrew. And
I'm now wondering if he may have died before adulthood (or moved out of
Georgia) since I can't find him in the census after 1850.

Kathy,
I have a letter written by my Dad's cousin back in the 1940's listing the
family and their birthdates. She lists this particular Benjamin with a
birth date of July, 1757. I don't have anyother proof of his birthdate but
is coincides with the rest of his siblings.

Hello Kathy,
Maybe I am stupid, but could you please explain how this
Benjamin Camp, born 1814, descends from Thomas Camp and Winifred Starling.
Thanks.

Hi Kathyrn,
Andrew Jackson Camp, b 9 May 1834, Fayette Co Ga., d 24 May 1907, buried in
the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery Riverdale, Ga. Was the son of
James Seaborn Camp & his first wife Mahaley Beavers. He was married to
Drusella E. Huie.
Andrew was my Grand Father's (James Monroe Camp) half brother.
I have been to the cemetery and have photo's of his grave, which is marked
with a Civil Was Stone.
My copy of his Civil War Records show; Camp, Andrew J.. Co. E, 30th Georgia
Infantry, Private. He also drew a Invalid Soldier's Pension, due to "right
leg disabled", as stated on his service records.
Hope this helps you.
Lora
Following are the descendants of Benjamin Camp (b. 1814 GA), who himself
descends from Thomas Camp and Winifred Starling. His descendants lived
mostly in and around Atlanta, GA. I've also included the census information
that helped me build this tree. I'd be interested if anyone can confirm or
negate this family tree.
Thanks much in advance for any help.
Best,
Kathy Camp

I had a problem recently where I was receiving anywhere from ten
to fifty "returned" emails a day. It appeared that I was sending them;
however, there would be odd subjects in the subject line. Goodness
knows how many actually made it through to legitimate addresses.
I tried everything I could think of to stop it. I was told by someone
I respect that this is just a vehicle to transmit viruses. The offender
finds a legitimate address to use as a transmitter, infects the email
with a virus and then sends it out enmasse. The only advice I can
make is use your delete button alot and KEEP YOUR VIRUS
PROTECTION UP TO DATE! Don't respond to the offending
email, it will just keep propagating.
Hope this helps someone,
Carole

Hello All - I have finish transcribing and indexing the 1860 Richmond Co. GA
census. As always, I will be very glad to do look-ups.
I am sorry but no Camp surname appeared on that census.
Dot
That's very likely him. His wife on these census records was Jane F. who was 20 years younger than him. So he could have married previously to Louisa Ann Clark. His 2 children, according to the census, were born in CT.
If it is him, I have just learned his birth date, birth place, previous wife, parents, and middle name. WOW! But when I find him on the Ancestry.Com submitted by Carrie Holbrook, she lists death date of 1872 and no place. I've written her for further info.
Family tradition said that he was a judge and did not like the death penalty so he moved to WI. Earlier census records list his occupation as farmer.
Thanks so very much for looking this up for me. This is my deceased husband's great great grandfather. Today is our wedding anniversary, so it's appropriate to work on his genealogy today.
I'll copy my notes from PAF here:
The Camp surname appears earliest in an English family in Milford, New Haven Co., Connecticut, probably before 1645. comment from Webmaster of DeCamp List.
Estelle Stanley (grand daughter in-law) said he was a judge in Massachusetts who left Mass. as he was opposed to death penalty and moved to Baraboo where he was a judge. "He was very much admired and the town people presented him with this bible -- a weighty tome." (As you see, she had the state wrong, but perhaps some of the information is correct.)
Alice W. Boyd listed his name as Judge Ralph Norton Camp.
1850: On 1850 Village of Adams (now Baraboo) WI census father Ralph G. Camp, a farmer, 50, her mother Jane F., 29 and Arthur A. Camp, 3. All 3 were born in CT.
1855: He was president of the Walnut Hill Cemetery Association in Baraboo. Not buried there.
1860: On 1860 Baraboo WI census: father Ralph Camp, 61, mother Jane F., 39, A. A., 13, she is 7 (born in WI) and a 13 female born in CT (hard to read name). Next door is Dr. J. N. Camp and his family.
1870: (very faded) Ralph G., 71, lawyer; Jane, 48; Arthur, 24; Louisa, 17.
1880 census of Baraboo WI showed he was born in Connecticut.

I checked the Camp Family Database and did find a Ralph Garwood Camp born 14
June 1799 Litchfield, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of
Joseph Eleazer Camp and Rhoda Turner. It doesn't say what his occupation was
nor where he died. He married Louisa Ann Clark and there were no children
listed.

I'm researching Ralph G. Camp who was born in CT and moved his family to Baraboo WI. He supposedly was a judge.
I don't know who his parents were.
Does anybody tie into this line?
Marie
I checked the Camp Family Database and did find James and Evaline but
Evaline's last name was Kahler. I don't know if that is a maiden name or
married name. We do not have parent's name for James. The 1840 Morgan
County, Ohio shows 3 Camp families there: I. L. Camp; John Camp and William
Camp. You need to look at the 1840 census to see if any of these families
have a 1-2 yr old male.

First and foremost, let's remember that legitimate RW list e-mails can't
contain a virus, because attachments are removed in the process.
Now, if you've saved it, look at the message titled "[CAMP-L] John CAMP and
wife Mary SANFORD of Hartford Conn." that was sent on 10/8. It appeared to
have been sent by "genann(a)kraftgrp.com", and looked legitimate because the
prepend was copied. However, there were two rather subtle clues to show that
it wasn't legitimate:
1. The presence of the attachment, which RW would have stripped off before
sending it out.
2. The expanded header information does now include the line "Return-Path: <
CAMP-L-request(a)rootsweb.com>" but a different return path. That tells you
that the message originated from the user's account, not RW.
Therefore, I conclude that the user (possibly Ann Martin,
genann(a)kraftgrp.com, though, since it's a corporate account, it should have a
pretty good firewall) probably is infected with Bugbear. In her defense (even
though I don't know her), it's also likely that she's not the culprit, but
rather someone else who has her in an address book.

Hello Ann,
Do you have any indication of Camps who were loyal to the British Crown
during the American Revolutionary War and ended up in Canada? If so I may
have a connection.
Best too you.
