Mike, I don't have anything more on Andrew Hindman than what is below on earlier email. But as Andrew Hindman married Martha Camp, the sister of Elizabeth Camp, Elizabeth's son Charles J. Camp married Maranda Carden Aug 17, 1881 in Campbell Co., Ga. Maranda's parents were Thomas Jefferson (Jeff) Carden (My old record says 1900 census says father born VA mother born Ga. and that he was born in Ga.Foolishly I did not record which census, but probably Campbell Co., Ga) I have his wife as Amelia Moore. I also have that Nancy believe was his 2nd wife married ca 1877. Thomas Jefferson Carden and Amelia Moore had two children that I know of:
(1) Maranda Carden born March 21, 1857, died Oct 4, 1921 Fairburn, Ga. buried Bethlehem Church near Fairburn in unmarked grave, and (2) Tazwell Carden born 1858 died 1933. If this is the wrong family, I know this is more than anyone wants to know. Larealia

1743.
I appreciate your efforts. Bobbie
Bobbie, did you ever look up the John CAMP, son of John Camp who went to NC

Judy,
No, I very much wish I could but have never been able to connect him to any
of the line. He and his son John Hamlin Camp went to Davidson County
Tennessee in 1803 from Brunswick County Virginia and to Giles County in
1808.
John Hamlin and his wife Dorothy had 10 children, 5 of whom lived to
adulthood, including my great-grandfather James Thomas Camp. The others who
lived were daughters and all of them are well documented. The land records
which Barbara just added to the Camp website for John H. Camp is John Hamlin
Camp.
I believe that because John Camp is so easily confused with Captain John
Camp
who died in 1801 in South Carolina that most never realize that they are not
the same person.
Any help from anyone with light to shed on this will be very much
appreciated. I have a great deal of information about both Captain John Camp
and DR John Hamlin Camp and their families I will be delighted to share it
with anyone who is interested. I just don't have a clue who John's parents
were.

You are quite welcome!! :-)
Judy
I just looked that up. Since it is not part of my own line, I added it
without putting a note up front that says he is not a proven son there. He
was said to be a son of the other John in a LDS file that was submitted - no
proof: LDS Family file AF89100545. I know that the LDS library keeps good
documents as well as submitted family records. I have found SO many errors
in the submitted files there. We all need to be careful about that. The LDS
site, online, even warns us about the submitted files, saying that we should
research those to prove them.
Thank you for letting me know about this one. I entered him there years ago,
and had forgotten where I got him. I am more careful now about putting
"Possible" or "Probable" on the lines that show in outline forms, when
children are not proven. My own lines are well proven, but I tend to collect
the others, and call them "Possible son or dau" if I didn't prove them
myself. This one passed me by.

I notice that you are a careful and thorough researcher, so I would be
interested to know where you found the information that John Hamlin Camp was
the son of John Camp who died 1801. John Camp is a name shared by several.
This summer, I visited the Elkton Cemetery in Giles County Tennessee again,
and took pictures, again of the tombstones of John Camp and next to him his
son John Hamlin Camp. Also buried there is John Hamlin Camp's wife Dorothy
Chamberlain Jones Camp.
The inscriptions read:
Capt John Camp who departed this life April 29, 1820, in the 66 year of his
life
DR John Hamlin Camp Jan 27, 1783- November 10, 1829
I have sent those pictures to Larry Camp to be put on the Camp family
website
but have not heard from him if he received them.

Larealia,
I checked my info and Joseph Camp(b.12-13-1777 d. 2-27-1854) was the son
of Benjamin Camp(b. 1756). Joseph's first wife was Elizabeth Camp (a cousin
b. 12-30-1781). They were married in 1799 in Laurens co., SC. I show the
second wife is Martha Kemp (b. 9-25-1825). They were married 12-7-1851 in
Campbell co., GA.
On the Camp Family web site, Elizabeth's parents are Thomas(Scary Tom)Camp
and Susanna D. Waggoner. Martha Kemp's parents were William & Mary Kemp of
DeKalb Co., GA. If you have not checked the web site, you should try it.
It is the best source for Camp information I have found. It is
freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genlady/. Just e-mail if I can help you.

Buck and Judith, is this Joseph Camp the one who married Martha Camp. I
think from memory they were both married twice and Martha's second husband
was Andrew Hindman. My husband's g-g-grandmother, Elizabeth Camp, was the
sister of Martha. Elizabeth's son, Charlie J. Camp, my husband's
g-grandfather, lived in the area you described which is west of Fairburn,
Ga. and just east of the Chattahoochee River. That area was Campbellton Co.
at the time. I am just wondering if this is same family? Larealia

Judith,
Would appreciate ANY info you can send me.
I have visited "Grandpa Benjamin's" house near Fairburn, GA on the EAST side
of the Chattahoochie River, and I understand his father Joseph lived on the
WEST side just across the river, but I don't know the exact location. I
travel to and through Atlanta quite often (I'm in Huntsville, AL), and one
of these days will go to the Douglas County courthouse and find exactly
Grandpa Joseph's homestead was.....
This info came from Annie Sarah Camp Johnston (her grandfather, whom she
knew, was a much youmnger brother of my great-grandfather, Joseph Walter
Camp), and Annie Sarah knew her grandfather well. Unfortunately , I just
learned that she passed away on the 14th (?) of October....
IF I can ever retire, I plan to locate and visit as many of the physical
locations where they lived as I can...... If that is interesting to you, I
found a WebSite for maps that looks promising (http://www.goldbug.com/);
haven't used them yet.....
Any info would be helpful, especially the "earlier Camps."
Regards,
Joseph William (Buck) Camp, Jr.

Does anyone have information on this family? William Kemp was on 1850 and 1860 DeKalb co., Ga census with daughter Elizabeth (born about 1828). Charlie J. Camp was born Jan 21, 1863, DeKalb Co., Ga. He lived in Campbell Co., and died in the same place after it became Fulton Co. I have been told that many of this family married other Camps and that Elizabeth may have married another Camp, but I have also been told from family sources that she never married and that Charlie J's father died in Civil War. Elizabeth's sister was apparently Martha who married a Judge Camp and then married as her second husband Andrew Hindman. Can anyone point me in the right direction to search? Larealia

Hi Judy,
It's good to hear from you again. As usual you were the one with the
answers! And, I thank you.
Can you share with me the info you have on the CAMP line prior to the
original John CAMP & Sarah POLLARD? Both sides would be appreciated. You
always have the documentation too.
We had a good trip out west, 3,300 miles driving. We visited all my wife's
kids plus a little side trip to Santa Fe, NM. What a treat that city is. I
would like to spend a week there.
Again, thanks for all the info.

Barbara,
Thanks for the info. I have ordered a copy of the Camp-Kemp History through
our library's interlibrary loan.
I do have one more question if you will.
I have John CAMP'S son, Robert Ambrose CAMP, with a birth date of 2/22/1774.
I have his marriage date with Sarah POLLARD as 1777. Any info would help
as this seems to have the horse before the cart.
Thanks,
John

Why do you not sign up for this site, instead of having Barbara forward
stuff? Unfortunately this list is NOT very active, so if you were worried
about 220 messages a day, will NEVER happen.
