Still looking for the ancestry of Hannah Camp Hatch, of New Milford
Connecticut. Second wife of my ancestor John Sturdevant Jr. She was born
1776, died 11/25/1824, buried in South Cemetery Bridgewater CT. She was
first married to a Mark T. Hatch, and they were living in Fairfield County
CT. according to the 1800 census. They had a daughter named Currence, who
later married my ancestor John Sanford Sturdevant. Mark T. Hatch died
sometime between 1800-1810, and Hannah is listed as widow and head of
household in 1810 census for Litchfield County CT.
Any information on who her parents were would be greatly appreciated.
Closest match I have found is :
Hannah CAMP b 16 Jan 1774
Father: John CAMP, Mother Hannah JEWELL
Siblings were: Betty CAMP b 20 Nov 1775
Sabina CAMP b 21 Feb 1778
John CAMP b 27 Feb 1780
Given to my by Marjorie on NV on this list. Would anybody have any
confirmation of this, or does the new information above ring a bell with
some other Hannah Camp?
Thanks,
John Sturdevant

Remember these books may not have a Camp person but a military "camp" name so
the book may not be what you want. Be sure to read the description carefully

Those cemetery records were already posted on the Camp web site under
Cemetery Records, Alabama. As for Reuben Carter Camp, I don't have any
records of him, does anyone else?

I finally found who I think is my greatgrandfather George W. Camp (Kamp) in the 1850 Fed Census of Marshall Co, IN. It gives his age as one year (b. IN) which jives with all the info I have from family bibles. It lists him with Jonathan Camp, b. OH, age 25, farmer and Mary, b. PA. It also lists Joseph Camp, age 53, b. PA and Lydia Camp, age 47, b. NY.
I have info that he had a brother David, who later had children Marie, Ruby and Neal.
Name could be spelled Kamp also.
George W. married Sarah J. Truex.
Anybody connect with these people?
Thanks for reading this. Karen
I was sent an interesting tidbit regarding the husband of Cornelia Ray,
Alexander E. Gifford. Cornelia's lineage is: Aschsah Crane - Robert Crane -
Eleazer Camp - Joseph Camp - Nicholas Camp.
Alexander E. Gifford and his brother James J. Gifford built the family home
of Julius Booth, father of John Wilkes Booth. James J. Gifford was the
Architect/Builder of Ford's Theater in Washington DC. Therefore, the Gifford
family built the family home of the assassin and the theater where Lincoln
was killed.

Luther G. Camp is my grandfather. He married(?) my grandmother, Stella R.
Johnson, in about 1918/19. I am trying to locate relatives from a prior
marriage that produced a son named Howell in 1897. I have a picture of
Howell that the family may not have. I am hoping that some relative has
information on when or where my grandparents were married. They appear in
the 1920 census in Douglasville.
Here is my linage and it goes as follows:
Thomas Camp B. 1507 M. 1532 to Joan Boreham D.6-15-1560
Robert Camp B. 5-11-1537 M. 1560 to Joan D. 7-21-1608
Edward Camp B. 1-27-1576 M. 9-21-1615 to Grace Mott D. 3-2-1682
Edward Camp, Jr.B. 9-21-1617 M. 9-21-1617 to Mary Canfield D. 10-4-1659
Samual Camp, Lt. B. 9-13-1645 M. 10-10-1682 to Mary Camp D. 1-27-1736
Enos Camp B. 5-20-1688 M. 9-28-1710 to Martha Baldwin D. 6-20-1768
Isaac Camp B. 2-24-1720 M. ? 1739 to Sarak Clark D. 1761
Job Camp B. 10-16-1747 M. 2-22-1773 to Anna Oviatt D. 1-17-1822
Albert Camp B. 12-28-1774 M. 11-17-1798 to Hannah Ellsworth D. 2-1-1866
Nelson Camp B. 4-6-1815 M. 11-10-1836 to Elizabeth Wood D. 11-5-1871
Charles Camp B. 5-29-1841 M. 4-13-1870 to Lydia Sherwood D. 7-6-1919
William P. Camp B. 12-114-1873 M. 10-15-1914 to Jennie M. Clink D. 3-8-1926
Harry Sr. Camp B. 7-18-1915 M. 9-11-1934 to Ethal Cassaberry D. 9-14-1995
Roy W. Camp B.12-13-1941 M. 3-11-1969 to Connie Zapolski and he is still alive.
Susan R. Camp B. 6-20-1975 and I am not married and I am still around.
If anyone has any more information that They can share please let me know. Also if anyone needs any more information on any one of these people feel free to contact me by email naturegirl(a)cyber-quest.com .
My grandfather is Harry Sr. Camp and my Grandmother is Ethal (Cassaberry).
They were both born in 1915.
