Barbara and Camp Researchers,
For a year I've been searching for information on my "Camp" line and
trying to tie in the Camp's at the Camp Family Association and Researches
page that are from Hesper, Iowa. Today I received a lot of information,
obits, and Hesper (Winneshiek Co.), Iowa Cemetery Index with the following
information:
Hesper Cemetary: My notes:
CAMP, Mattie Row 7, Num 7 (1st wife of David, surname: Peterson)
CAMP, David D Row 7, Num 7 (son of Milton, husband of Mattie)
CAMP, Charlie M. Row 7, Num 7 (son of Milton)
CAMP, Hannah L Row 7, Num 7 (Camp Research Page. #30019)
CAMP, Perry Roy Row 7, Num 7 (Camp Research Page #30020) Have copy of obit!
CAMP, Oscar L Row 7, Num 7 (Camp Research Page #30021)
CAMP LARGE STONE Row 7, Num 8
CAMP, Milton H., Row 8, Num 9 (Milton & Lydia, husband & wife) & obits.
CAMP, Lydia A, Row 8, Num 10 (I have tons of information on Lydia &
Milton)
McClintock - CAMP- LARGE STONE, Row 8, Num 11
McClintock, Letha Row 8, Num 12 (daughter of Milton & Lydia CAMP, m.
Charles)
McClintock, Charles Row 8, Num 12 (I have a picture of Charles & Dessie,
his brother, but no other information on
McClintock)
Milton H. CAMP and Lydia Ann (Hazel) CAMP are my great-great grandparents.
I'm not sure how Hannah (5 yrs), Perry (2 yrs), and Oscar (2yrs) fit in.
Mattie, Hannah, and Perry all died in 1895, so I'm looking into any deseases,
etc. that may have occurred in the area at that time.
There seems to be a few Milton CAMP's in this family, one son, Milton (of
Stillwater, IA) was born to David D. CAMP.
Thank you for looking at this information, and if you are related, or can
assist I would appreciate hearing from you.
Tobi
Thank you, Dot, for this "nudge" on the Grimes Co. CAMPS. I have seen these
families many times on the census but did not know to whom they belong.
Does any
one know who they are? Could J. B. and Ira be sons of Samuel Camp, son of
Thaddeus of Warren County, GA? Samuel had a son named Ira and a son named
Joseph. Also there was Harmon, Arthur and my Thomas. I have not learned
the fate of Thomas, who married Martha Frances Coleman in Grimes Co., Tx. in
1858.~~ Mary. -----Original Message-----

Charles Winfield Stone and Mariah Camp were married on September 17, 1885 in
Warrick County, Indiana. Their first two children, Pearl and Myrtle were
born in Indiana. The other five children were born in Breckenridge County,
Kentucky.
In the spring of 1923 the family moved to Williamsville, Illinois and 6
years later moved to Taylorville, Illinois.
On September 17, 1925, Charles and Mariah celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary by having the first Stone/Camp reunion in Manners Park in
Taylorville. According to Charles when he wrote his mee-mores (memoirs),
all of his children were present, as well as 15 grandchildren and one
great-grandson.
Plans were made at that time to have the reunion the 1st Sunday in September
1936, in Manners Park. After a few years the reunion was held in Lincoln
Park in Springfield, Illinois. Later, after Charles' and Mariah's daughter,
Pearl, died, a grandson, Lawrence Leslie, and his wife, Helen, requested the
reunion be moved to Palmer, Illinois where it still is today.
Charles' and Mariah's children are Pearl Leslie, Myrtle Haupt, Marie
Beauchamp, Ruby Hannaford, Ira Stone, Jasper Stone and Bill Stone. Mariah
is a descendant of John Steel Camp.
The Stone/Camp reunion has been held every year since 1925, though scant in
family members during war years. It has been held the FOURTH SUNDAY in
AUGUST for several years, and will be again this year. Palmer is about 8
miles south of Taylorville, Illinois.
M. Carter, Granddaughter of Marie Beauchamp

Would you please put me on your mailing list. I am trying to find proof of
the parents of Richard Clements Camp born VA 1823 (Born North Carolina said
his son in the 1890 Federal Census taken in Denton Co. TX). Was in Lowndes
Co. MS before Dec. 8, 1842 when he married Elizabeth H. Duke daughter of
Matthew Duke who appears in 1840 Federal Census in Noxubee, Co. MS. Richard
may have come to Lowndes Co. MS with either of these three men. William H.
Dandridge, James Jones, or James H. Tate. He served as a non commissioned
officer in company D Miss. State Troups called out by the governor in 1864.
He last appeared in the records of this county in the Road Order book in
1869.
