Dear List:
I am planning a trip to England in May and would like to include
a visit to the Nathaniel Camp house in Essex. Does anyone have
directions or an exact address? How far from London?
If anyone has any suggestions for research, I'd love to hear from
you.
Thanks!
Carole (always a Camp) Johnson
Dear Judy,
Thank you for posting this information. It does seen a bit of a coincidence
that you have mention of some of the same boys names.
I have found on the 1850 census, the 3 boys you mention. It would appear that
possibly their mother had died, or else maybe they just had left their home,
because they were "grown up"
Miron (I think Myron) was age 17 living with E.W. Stacks
Dennison was age 12 living with Jacob Riddlebarger
Clark was 18 living with Amos Hussy
Perhaps they were working for these men.
I would wonder if they are related in some way to them?
Thank you to all on the list who read my post.
If there is anything that anyone could add, please do.
Regards,
Marjorie
Dear List,
I am researching the Camp line, and through some work of other cousins, have
traced back to Edward Camp and Grace Mott of Hundsdon Herts, England. I have
listed as their children: Edward, Grace, Unknown, George, William, Mary and
Philemon. I have birthdates for the children, and the birthdate of the
unknown child is Dec. 12, 1621. Does anyone know anything about any of the
children of Edward and Grace?
My records then follow Edward, Edward, John, Ichabod, Samuel, Claudesley,
Alford Banks, Henry Clay and Walter Luther (my grandfather).
Also, is anything known about the Camp line before Edward Camp and Grace
Mott? I've also seen this Edward's name spelled Campe. (By death dates they
seem to be the same person)
Thanks (I'm new at this and hope I'm doing it the right way!)
Susan
I have just posted the Hanover Center Cemetery (New Hampshire) records
provided by Joyce M. Camp which lists israel Camp and Bettie Hurlbutt and
family.
>From the data of the tombstones, it makes me suspect that Israel Camp (born
1722), son of Enos Camp and Martha Baldwin, may not be the Israel Camp that
married Bettie Hurlbutt. It would make more sense if this Israel Camp (born
1756) was the son of Israel Camp and Anna Hine.
If anyone has further information (thoughts, theories, etc) on the above
family, please post it.

Marjorie,
I don't know if this fits together, but I have some of those names
related to my Camp ancestors. Five cousins are referred to in letters
written by Alfred Bennett Camp to his sister & his mother while he was in
Co. H, 8th Regt. Wis. Vol. from 1861 to 1864 in the Civil War; these
cousins were Clark Camp, Luke Camp, Myron Camp, Wesley Camp, & Isaac
Camp, & Alfred referred to their father as Uncle Clark. According to the
letters, Clark & Isaac were in the 12th IL Regt. & Myron was in the 22nd
IL Regt. The regiments of Luke & Wesley weren't mentioned.
Three sons of Clark Camp (that same uncle) were in Lee Co. IL in 1850 --
Clark, Dennison, & Myron -- each living with a different family.
I have never seen the names of wives of any of these Camps so can't
verify that they are the same ones you have -- but maybe. Do you have any
idea of when Media Stevens died? It's been puzzling to me why those young
sons who were born in PA would have been in IL.

Hello List,
Today I received some NEW information.
Clark CAMP or Louis Clark CAMP was the father of 8 boys & 1 girl.
I do not know all the names, but maybe someone on this list will connect with
them? Their mother was Media STEVENS b PA.
John CAMP m Mary Alavelda BEADLE 16 Feb 1861 in Tama Co., IA
Dennison CAMP m Nancy BROOKS 29 Jun 1861 in Tama Co., IA
Clark CAMP m Mary Ann Martyn 28 May 1858 in Tama Co., IA
Luke CAMP age 27 years 5' 5" Bradford, PA. Occ: Carpenter enlisted 24 Feb
1862 Toledo. He served under St. Martin. died 22 Aug 1863. Vicksburg. Miss.
Clark CAMP m Hattie Straw 6 Oct 1867
Looking for the other lost brothers? All but John, served in the Civil War.
John had asthma so was denied due to ill health.
Who would their sister be? Who would the other brothers be?
If anyone, has anything, to help with this puzzle, any and all information is
most gratefully received. Nothing is too small. I truly believe that it will
all make sense one day soon!

Marjorie in NV JMTsparks(a)aol.com
Does anyone know of a Marion CAMP (believed maiden name) living in either the Seattle or Centralia, WA area? If you have a legitimate connection to her, I have a photograph to pass along to you. Please contact me personally by e-mail. Thank you.

Ok ... Robert Berry was Mary Berrys father ......
Can someone tell me where these Berrys were from ? PLEASE !? :)

The CAMP family that she married into was from Culpepr Co, VA.
I have other BERRYs in my data base from King George Co, VA. Try searching
in those.

Marjorie,
1850 census info for Camps is on Camp Family website; go to:
http://www.clipper.net/~genlady/illinois.htm
for Illinois & scroll down to Lee County. I had viewed the info on
microfilm at San Diego Family History Center previously; this site just
repeats what I'd originally found. I see brother Miron/Myron is in Lee
Co. also.
I see by my county map book that Fulton Co. is quite a distance from Lee
Co. so no clue yet as to whether that means anything or not.
I have also discovered that many of the Camps in 'my' family seemed to
commonly be referred to by their middle names instead of what would
appear to have been their actual first names. This certainly adds to the
confusion in searching. I looked for a Hugh Camp for quite some time
before discovering his name was really Frederick Hugh Camp, but always
referred to as Hugh by his family. 'Hugh' was a son of Alfred B. Camp &
born in the state of Oregon; Hugh's wife was Maude DeVore from the state
of Illinois.

David,
I don't see a connection at the present between your Manassah Camp & the
Camps that I've been particularly researching. I am definitely searching
for descendants of a David Camp however who was born 1832 PA; lived in
Lee Co. IL in 1850; lived in Dane Co. WI in 1860; married Mary Piatt
(unknown exactly when or where); David & Mary Piatt Camp had 4 children:
Perry, Ervin, Key, & Myrtle; family apparently moved from Dane Co. WI to
someplace in IL; don't know if they moved elsewhere.

Marjorie,
What little info I have for Clark Camp doesn't mention that he was a
minister, but other notes indicate there were Camp family members that
were ministers. It seems that those Camps who came from PA to IL & points
even further west lost touch over the years with brothers & sisters who
remained in PA. There were many related Camps in Lee Co. IL in 1850. I'm
hoping the Clark Camp that I'm aware of as well as his brothers,
Dennison, Isaac, Myron, Wesley & Luke, may turn out to be the missing
brothers of your John Camp.
