Dear List,
Jackie Camp's line is through her husband, Raymond E. CAMP. His
father was John Thomas CAMP Jr., brother to my grandfather, William
Robert CAMP. THEIR father was John Thomas CAMP, married to Martha
Jane DUKE. The line then goes: James Seaborn, John, James, John
(married to Mary Tarpley), Thomas III.
Jackie has been a tireless, conscientious and thorough amateur genealogist
for many years. She is still active in genealogy, as is her daughter-in-
law. I haven't heard from them in a few months, and I don't know if
they subscribe to this list, thus my butting in. She has spent countless
hours and untold amounts of money to chase our elusive ancestors.
She deserves a great round of applause and a lot of "atta girls" for
all of her work. She is incredibly generous in sharing her work, too.
One thing I do know about Jackie, if she says something is true, she
has the documentation. She got me "hooked" on genealogy eighteen years
ago. Unfortunately, it was difficult for me to keep at it, due to
my four children being babies at the time and we've lost touch over the
years.
Jackie has a great photograph of John Thomas CAMP and Martha Jane DUKE.
I have been trying to track down another copy, said to be in the possession
of one of their other descendants with no luck. I have a Xerox copy of
it, but don't know how well it would scan.
If ANYONE has any photos of any GA. CAMPs, I'd love to hear from you and
would be more than happy to pay for any costs incurred so that we may send
them to Larry.
Are you there, Jackie, I'd love to hear from you!
Carole
I am posting this for Joe. If you can help him, please write directly to him.

Nancy Camp, 24 Nov. 1798-5 May 1840, and husband James Abercrombie, 23 Dec.
1798-28 Jan. 1880, are buried in unmarked graves in an abandoned cemetery off
Brown's Lake Road near Campbellton in south Fulton (old Campbell) Co., Ga.
Who were her parents? (I have information to share on their six children,
grandchildren, etc.) They moved from Henry Co., Ga., to old Campbell Co.,

We too would like to know what documents were used to trace the CAMP family
back, through all the Thomas CAMPs, to William Camp & Mary Farmer who
married 1584 in Essex, England.
We have a copy of letter typed on May 22,1979 by Mrs. Jackie S. Camp
(address: 3209 Forrest Hills Drive, Hapeville, Georgia 30354) to Orpha Camp,
wife of Harvey Austin Camp (son of Warner Austin Camp, b.10/28/1868 in
Clayton Co., Georgia).
Mrs. Jackie S. Camp stated that "We did see Colin Colley, at the College of
Arms when we were in England, and he kept talking to Edd so long I was
afraid we would not have enough money to pay the expenses. However, when he
was through, HE told Edd there would be no charge...the Camp line goes back
to a daughter of King James IV House of Stuart,,..and we were surprised. I
do have a little data and when I have more time, I will write more details."
That's all we have on the Camp family going back to King James IV, House of
Stuart.
Do any of the Camp mail-list members know where Mrs. Jackie S. Camp (we
assume that her husband is/was Edd Camp) fits into the Camp family? Did she
ever "write more details"?
Happy Hunting!!!

I have added another pic to the Camp Family Album on the Camp Family
Association page. We now have a total of twenty and I am up to date. If
you sent a photo (at least 75 years old) and don't see it there let me
know, I may have missed it somehow. View these under Pictures at

Barbara Farris,
Thank you for posting the marriage records we found for you! We hope that
maybe someone else will have a recognition of our CAMP family so we can
eventually connect!
Thank You,
Gerald & Marjorie Thompson
Dear Larry,
The picture site looks great! However, we did sent you 5 so think you have
missed one of the CAMP girls I think all wearing hats? PS If you have not
seen anything from Harold CAMP yet re: Lewis Clark CAMP & Lucy it would be
because he is in the hospital today, for a removal of a spot off his lung.
So, I am sure you will understand the delay.
Kind Regards,
Gerald & Marjorie Thompson

My information on Nathan (Nathaniel) Camp comes from Jeanette Holland
Austin's book on diskette, "CAMP/CAMPE of England, Virginia, N. C.,
Georgia (1630-1987), published in 1996. Again, I don't know if this is
the same person that you mention.
Nathaniel Camp, child of Thomas Camp and Winifred Starling, was born in
Virginia in 1745 and died in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He married
Winifred Tarpley. Since it is not my direct line, I did not post
information on his descendants, but they can be found in Jeanette
Austin's book. Another reference, K. K. White's "The King's Mountain
Men," gives Nathaniel's birth date as 1748.
Hope this will be helpful, either directly or by stimulating someone else
to come up with some answers for you.

Hi List,
I have added three pictures to our photo album tonight....Mary Camp
Bennett and her husband, she is a descendant of Thomas Camp of King and
Queen Co, VA. The other two pictures include four generations of the
descendants of John Albert Camp: John Bryon, his mother and grandmother
and son John and a picture of his children Florence and Robert.
The photo Album can be accessed through The Camp Family Association Page
under Pictures.

If you have viewed the page in the past few days you may have to reload

Judith,
I don't know if we have a connection with your gg grandfather Edward Camp
and his brother Enoch Alonzo Camp, but I DO know that my Camps spent a few
generations in Ohio, and my gg grandfather Harvey C. Camp wrote a memoir
about his boyhood in Ohio during the Civil War. A relative of his had a
farm which his family visited. Harvey was about 8 or 10 at this time, so it
was around 1857-59. He remembers hearing voices in the barn late at night
and some whispered references to the railroad, etc. Turns out that this
relation's farm was a stop on the Underground Railroad, assisting runaway
slaves. Harvey's parents were Hiram Camp (b.1822 OH) and Almira Clark
(b.1828 Marion, OH). I only know of one sibling of Harvey's, Hortense
(b.1858). I am not sure who Hiram's parents were, but I *think* it was
Harvey Camp and Harriet Gregory, both b. CT. Their children were:
Silas
Hiram
Milton
Harriet
Elizabeth
Are any of these people connected in any way to your Edward or Alonzo?
Whitney
Dot,
Thank you for posting this information about Edward and Alonzo CAMP.
Edward is my gg grandfather and Enoch Alonzo CAMP is his brother. I have
more information about these CAMPs if anyone has a connection.
