Barbara, thank you very much for checking into this.
Below I have listed exactly what I know about Harriett
Camp for anyone who may have a clue for me.
Harriett Camp is listed as Charles R. Camp's mother on
his death certificate with "D.N." where his father's
name should be (I believe this to mean "didn't name",
but am not positive). 'Charley's' death certificate
was signed by a John C. Camp who was Charley and
Sydney (Hall) Camp's oldest son, John Crowell Camp.
According to family stories Harriett Camp had four
children without ever having been married, Charley was
born Feb 20, 1857 in North Carolina, and Charley and
Sydney, his wife, are both buried in unmarked graves
at the New Prospect cemetery in Spartanburg Co, SC.
The 1900 Campobello Twp, Spartanburg Co, SC census
seems to confirm Charley's birthday, at least "Feb
1857" and born "NC". Charley's death certificate and
Sydney's obituary confirms they are buried in New
Prospect.
1860 Sandy Plains, Polk Co, NC census lists a
household headed by Mary Camp 36, with Harriett
Johnson 21, John J. Camp 6, Charles R. Camp 3, and Wm.
A. Johnson 3/12. This Harriett was born 1839 or 1840.
1850 NC Polk Co, NC census shows Elias Camp 46, Mary
27, Harriett 11, and Adam 8. Again this puts Harriett
as being born 1839 or 1840.
Since Charley and his wife moved to Campobello Twp,
Spartanburg Co, SC and were living there in 1900, I
looked on the SC census for either Harriett Camp or
Harriett Johnson. I found William A. Camp, born Jan
1860 with the following: (record was 'VERY' difficult
to read) Nancy? wife bJan 1873, Lizzie? dau bMay 1892,
______? ? bApr 1893, _____? M. dau bApr 1898, Frank?
C. son bJan 1900, and Harriet m(other) bJan 1840 NC.
Is this 'Harriett Johnson' and 'Wm. A. Johnson' from
the 1860 Polk Co census above? Possible.
1880 Campobello Twp, Spartanburg Co, SC there is a
Harriett Camp head of household age 40 (so she was
born about 1840), with the following: Charles Camp son
age 20 born NC, William Camp son 18 NC, James Camp son
15 NC, Mary dau. 13 NC, Mary dau. 8 NC, and Pollie
Camp m(other) 65 NC. Is Pollie Camp the same person as
Mary Camp listed above in both the 1850 and 1860
census? Possible, but if Mary was 27 in 1850 and 36 in
1860, she should be 55 or 56 here, not 65. Was her age
transposed?
As you can see, all things point to 'my' Harriett Camp
being the daughter of Elias and Mary Camp, etc, etc.
But, since I am relatively new to genealogy I am
asking those of you with more experience -- is this
enough to go on?
I appreciate those who have helped me on this and
thank you all!

Hi all!
I would like to complete the 1850 census for all the Camp entries for all the
US states and put the information on the Camp page for all to use. I started
doing a few and putting them online, but I just don't have the time (if you
looked at my stack of Camp correspondence, Gedcom files, research and
lineages on my desk you wouldn't ask why!). :)))
Big project, and I need some typing volunteers and some lookup volunteers. I
would like to get this completed and online by the end of 2000. Volunteers
could send me the typed information as a text file and I will html code it
and put it on the Camp site. What do you'all think?? Is it a project worth
doing?
Any volunteers???

Terri,
I checked the Camp Family Database and do not find any marriage listed or
children listed to the Harriet Camp, daughter of Elias Alexander Camp and
Mary. It seems that this line has not been researched. I checked the 1850
NC census and there are only two Harriet's listed:
Rutherford County lists a Harriet, 11 yrs with Elias and Mary Camp.
Cleveland County lists a Harriet, 3 yrs with Margaret Camp (of Joseph Camp
and Savannah Roundtree). You may want to check the marriage records of NC to
find which Harriet married first.
If your Harriet Camp was the mother of Charles R. Camp, then there was no
father listed? Harriet was a Camp or married to a Camp? When was Charles R.
Camp born and where?

I am researching Harriett CAMP (my husband's
gg-grandmother) who is listed as the mother to Charles
R. CAMP on his death certificate. It seems there is a
lot of information out there on this CAMP line:
Harriett CAMP, dau of Elias and Mary (?) CAMP. Elias,
son of Stephen and Anne (ALEXANDER) CAMP, son of
Thomas and Margaret (CARNEY) CAMP, etc.
I'm searching for descendants of my gggrandfather, Joseph CAMP, son of
Isaac Camp (1782-1862) & Mary (Polly) Lacey; Isaac, son of Job Camp
(1747-1822) & Anna Oviatt; Job, son of Isaac Camp 1719-1761); Isaac, son
of Enos Camp (1688-1768); Enos, son of Samuel Camp (1645-1735) & Mary
Camp.
According to an old family Bible in my mother's possession, Joseph Camp,
was born 12 Sept 1806; it is most commonly believed that he was born in
Bradford Co. PA, but it is possible that he was actually born in NY.
Joseph Camp was most likely the 3rd child born of the 9 or 10 children
that were born to Isaac Camp & Mary Lacey during the early 1800's
following their marriage in 1803.
Joseph Camp married Hannah Perrington Smith 31 Dec 1829. Hannah was born
01 Oct 1811 in NY; she had been a school teacher in Herrick, Bradford Co.
PA & was the teacher for a younger brother of Joseph, George S. Camp.
Joseph & Hannah had 8 children including a son born in 1835 who died in
1836. In 1849, Joseph sold his house & lot to his brother, George, & left
with his wife & 7 children for IL where his sister, Lydia Camp, & her
husband, Matthew Weldon, were already living with their seven children.
In July, 1849, Joseph & 3 of their children, Frederick Smith Camp-age 18,
Caroline Camp-age 15, & Henry Lacey Camp-age 1, died of cholera. All were
buried in Kane Co. IL. Hannah Smith Camp appears on the 1850 Lee Co. IL
census along her 4 surviving children, David Dare Camp-age 18, Thomas
Perrington Camp-age 13, Mary August Camp-age 10, & Alfred Bennett
Camp-age 8. Hannah & her children subsequently moved to Dane Co. WI where
Hannah married a widower, DeWitt C. Devine.
Mary Augusta Camp is my great-grandmother; in 1856 she married John C
Devine, a younger brother of DeWitt C. Devine who married her mother. I
am slowly gathering information about Mary's brothers & their descendants
but am hoping to find more.
David Dare Camp was born 3 Feb 1832 & in 1857 married Mary Piatt; they
had 3 sons: Perry, Ervin, Key, & a daughter, Myrtle, who married Tiodolf
Lidberg. David owned or operated a jewelry store in Stoughton, Dane Co.
WI for several years & then moved to IL. I have no further information on
his children.
Thomas Perrington Camp was born 22 Mar 1837; served in one of the WI
volunteer regiments during the Civil War; married Emma Jane Colladay 1865
& had 4 children: George Lacey Camp (1866-1943), William F. Camp (born
abt 1873), Charles Clair Camp (1880-1964), & Stella Camp. George Lacey
Camp married Mary Isabel Hardie in 1882; they had 3 daughters: Isabel,
Lorraine, Dorothy, & a son. William F. Camp married about 1903 & had a
son, Thomas, born about 1906. Charles Clair Camp was married to Dorothy
DeWolf in 1910 & had 2 sons: Robert & Walter. I am in contact with a
descendant of Thomas P. Camp through his son, Charles Clair Camp, but
would like to find other descendants of Thomas. Thomas died in IA in
1924.
Alfred Bennett Camp was born 9 Oct 1841; served in one of the WI
volunteer regiments during the Civil War; married Lucy Thompson about
1868 & they had 6 children: Bertha, Clara, Hugh, Ella, Myra, & Joseph.
Hugh Camp was a dentist; Ella Camp was a nurse & married a doctor; Joseph
Camp was a doctor & died in the 1970's. I am in contact with a descendant
of Alfred B. Camp through his daughter, Myra, but would like to find
other descendants of Alfred. Alfred died in OR in 1920.
Would enjoy hearing from anyone who thinks they might be part of this
Joseph Camp line.

Hi all,
I went to the archives to see if I could find some
information and found several messages from May 1999
concerning Thomas CAMP. To those of you who
participated, would you be so kind as to read the info
below and tell me whether or not I am on the right
track? I would greatly appreciate it!
I have copies
of several of the census records from Rutherford NC, I
have written to a couple of people concerning this
line, and I have spent several hours in my local
library in South Carolina. But, I haven't been able to
find 'my' Harriett's birth certificate, so I'm not
even sure that the Harriett listed as Elias and Mary's
daughter is the same Harriett I am looking for.
I don't mind doing the legwork (that's half the fun!),
but I really don't want to spin my wheels on something
that has already been done, done well, and maybe even
published.
Can anyone out there tell me if I am indeed on the
right trail, or if there are any published works on
this line? I am new at this, in case you can't tell!
<vbg> I don't want to waste anyone's time on dumb
questions, but I don't quite know how to proceed from
here.
Thank you for your time!

You can download the minor fix for Y2K from Microsoft-has to do with
using 4 digits for the year. Maybe instead of a hoax the problem is
"overstated".
Sorta like the media does these days.
Thanks, E D
The 1-888-673-8925 number is NOT a hoax. It connects you with Microsoft in
re to the CD for the year 2000 problem. If you stay on the line [no push 1's
, 2's, etc.] a very nice lady answers. She takes name, address, phone no.
and says your CD will be there in 10-14 days. She also asked if I wanted the
quarterly update. ALL is FREE as previously stated here. Try it you may
like it. ED
Hey folks, take a look at this before you get all excited. Someone is
not doing their research before passing this stuff along.

I'm still researching my last name. (Camp). I'm not sure on the line.

get further Info., I'll pass it along to you? Take Care.

Mom got this in one of her genealogy email letters that she gets. I called

and the CD to fix the Y2K problum are "FREE". You will get the information
in 8 to 10 days. And get the CD in November.

For all you PC'ers out there, here is the latest from Microsoft. I called
and this is real! they are sending me the cd-rom, free of charge, within 7

that and in fact had the fix and held it back. They probably wanted to
charge your for it.
And you thought Bill Gates had enough money already. If you have a mac, no

Here is information on upgrading your hard drive to comply with Y2K.
WINDOWS 98
Anyone running Windows 98 is NOT year 2000 compliant. Call Microsoft at
1-888-219-1302 to order the upgrade on CD-ROM. When you call, do not use
the digital telephone number access - STAY on the line until the recording
is done, and you'll get an operator to take your order. Tell them you want
"Windows 98 Year 2000 Update" on CD-ROM.
It IS free and there is no charge whatsoever for the CD, or the shipping."
WINDOWS 95
anyone running Windows 95 is NOT year 2000 compliant. Call Microsoft

to order the upgrade on CD-ROM.
When you call, do not use the digital telephone number access - STAY on the

I Called and ITS true. I called each number to upgrade both of our
computers, did as instructed, stayed on the line until an Operator came on,
and ordered my CDs. They will be shipped free. Copy & Paste & Send this
letter out to everyone your lists, friends and family members. This update

This sounds like another hoax beginning. If you need the Y2K fix, you can
get it at the Microsoft Update site. I wouldn't flood the Internet with
