Subject: [CAMP-L] New Camp Boards at Rootsweb
Hi all,
I just got notified that I was able to adopt the Camp GenConnect Board at
Rootsweb and I feel that this would be a great permanent place to post
bible_records, biographies, deeds, obituaries, pensions and wills for the
Camp families. You will be able to post, yourself, any Camp
information that
you have in your possession that you would like to share. I am
very excited
about this new research possiblity and I hope everyone will participate.
This will save space/bandwidth on the Camp Family web page and put some of
the web page work off of me and let me do more for the dozens of
queries/letter/research materials I get each week.
Too bad they don't have a census page, however I will continue to
keep that
on the Camp web site. Also they do have a Query page, but our
Camp mail list
should be used for those. If anyone posts to the Query page, they will be
receiving an email from me inviting them to join the Camp mail
list and the
Camp Family Association.
Once I transfer the existing bible records and obits off the Camp web site
and place them on the rootsweb site, I will be taking those pages off the
Camp page. DEBBY, you may want to post your obits directly to the
obituaries
page and not to the Camp list anymore - just a suggestion. I will
be posting
those you have sent to the list as of today, so any future ones
you can post
directly to the Camp obit board and save me the cut & paste work.
If it is a
problem, let me know.
Here is the URL for the Camp GenConnect Board, visit it and let me
know what
you think. I hope everyone will be able to post thing they have in one of
the catagories. Be sure to bookmark this address.

I am looking for information on Gertrude Camp of
Thorsby, Alabama. Her maiden name was Gibbs. I would
really like to know her husband's given name also.

Hi Mary,
You are welcome. My father has done some research on the era of
Camps that relate to our direct line....he may have some peripheral
information on Samuel and his descendants, too. Not sure. Unfortunately, he
doesn't have e-mail, so can only be reached by snail mail. His address is:
Alvin M. Camp
1404 N. Edmonds Ave,. #1
Carson City, Nevada 89701
He's not too communicative, so I don't know what to tell you to expect,
but he may be able to help you with that line.
I don't have my Camp notebook in front of me, but if I have anything
further, I'll post it. I'm not sure how to get to the Camp Association home
page, though I think I bookmarked it, so will look and see if I can
find that book listed. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
Val
Mary,
I read your posting to the list with interest, as I am also
descended from the Camps (Cecilus) from Warren Co.
Georgia. I did not know about this branch that moved off
to Texas. Thank you for this info. My particular Camp forebear moved on up
to Tennessee, then to Illinois, and
from there to Utah.
What leads you to believe that Thomas is the child of Samuel, grandson of
Thaddeus? Also, what is this Nell
Carter book that you mentioned? I have not heard of it
and would be interested in obtaining a copy of it if it is about the Camps.
Thanks.

Hi Kim:
Some of my Camp ancestors lived in Floyd County, GA from the early 1800's
and up to (probably) the present time. Although I don't have a William M.
Camp in my file, it's very possible that he descends from Hosea Milton Camp
(September 13, 1824-September 18, 1893) and Elizabeth Jane Goodwin (1825 -
?), who had a large family, 11 children, 10 of them sons. For more
information, check the Camp Family Association at:
<A HREF="http://www.new-jerusalem.com/genealogy/barbara/CAMP.HTM">Camp Family
Association
</A>
There is a list of Hosea Milton's descendants there under the Thomas Camp
line. Hosea descends from Thomas III, John, William, Ossimus.

Hi, I am going to try this and hopefully somebody out there can help.
I am looking for any information on William M. Camp born 5 Feb 1865 and
died 20 July 1914. He was buried near Bear Creek, Alabama. He was
married 1) Harriet Amos 2) Alice H. Roberts. He had 4 daughters between
the two wives: Arizona, Mamie, Birdie and Lou Emma (aka Ludie). I would
like to know who his parents were. I spoke to a couple of the Camps
still living in the general area, but they didn't know who William's
father or mother was. All that they knew was that the Camps moved from
Rome, Floyd County, Georgia, and settled in different places. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
