Cragg Hines,
No, you don't have an eye in the middle of your foreheads (but may be a
dormant gene)! Just because you had 2 Camp Brothers, 1 Aunt and 1 nephew in
the 1700's who children all intermarried. At least you have not had any
Camps intermarry since Joseph Walter Camp (1831), so your children and their
children should be okay! :)

Sharon,
In answer to your question - Ichabod Camp and Ann Oliver married 6 Jun 1757
in King's Chapel, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
In answer to your other question, Mary Canfield was born 1625 in England.
Her siblings were be christened in England until 1639 and her parents had not
left yet so, she was not in America up until that time at least. Both Nell
Carter's and mine were in error at the time of printing.

I see some references to several Stephen Camps and I wanted to post what the
Camp Family Database is showing so we can figure out who is who as several
people are showing them to be the same person. Anyone who has further
clarification, please post to the list so we all can see.

Connecticut. Married Hepizbath Webster, the daughter of Samuel Webster and
Huldah Skinner, on 24 Oct 1802 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut
according to the Hartford Second Church records. All of his children were

How can one ancestor cause so much TROUBLE ?
researching; CAMP, ERICKSON, COX, BATES in South Jersey, WHITAKER, FIELDS,

Im still researching, however, here is the latest:
David Clark Camp b. 07-05-1932, son of David Henry Camp, b. 07-13-1905 died
on Wednesday, June 16, 1999 in Hammond Indiana.
It's a long shot that this will mean anything to any of you, but here
goes.
On Tuesday of this week, my wife and I were looking for her great
grandmother's burial place just east of Knoxville, Tennessee. We found
an old cemetery (graves from the early to late 1800s) located on Friends
Station Road just north of highway 11E adjacent to Lost Creek Friends
(Quaker) Church. This cemetery matches the description we had and it is
near an area called "Hodge's Switch," where she is said to have died in
or shortly after childbirth, in 1884. The name, "Hodge's Switch," comes
from the railroad siding ("switch") that has been there since the 1800s.
We understand from a relative who talked with a member of the church that
the cemetery was once a community cemetery and does not belong to the
church. Anyone could and was buried there, regardless of race or
religious affiliation. In addition to the Quaker church, there is an
abandoned Methodist church just across the railroad tracks. A new
Methodist church has been built a mile or so away on 11E.
With the exception of the southwest corner of the cemetery, back under
some trees, only two tombstones are still standing. Others have toppled
and most have sunk into the ground. We have no idea how many people were
buried there. The church is talking about cleaning the cemetery and
trying to learn more about who is buried there. For now, though, they
are just keeping it mowed.
Now for the item of potential interest to the Camps. In the corner where
the tombstones are still standing, there is one small stone about the
size of a foot marker that has the single word, "Camp," chiselled into
the stone. Several of the tombstones were for a Jones family. Sorry we
don't have any more information, but perhaps this will mean something to
someone.

I think I found Stephen Camp's ancestry. This is the Stephen Camp who
married Hepizbah Webster in 1802. Look below in Family 4. So, now I'm
looking for the ancestry of Capt. John CAMP.

Hi Don:
Thank you for letting me know about this ...I wish I could attend.
but it is impossible....I will keep this information for the book...I am
putting it into the computer presently...I had over 2400 names on
computer today.....I have a stack of things to go through...obituaries,
news clippings....not many pictures....but I am trying to get it down as
many generations as possible.....it's fasinating but tiring....and I have
barely touched the surface it seems....I will call Mike and tell him
about this....did you e-mail Joe?.....If there is a write-up...could I have
a copy? Talk to you later....Elizabeth

Found this on another list - very informative!
In case you ever wondered why a large number of your ancestors
disappeared
during a certain period in history, this might help. Epidemics have
always
had a great influence on people - and thus influencing as well, the
genealogists trying to trace them. Many cases of people disappearing
from
records can be traced to their dying during an epidemic or moving away
from the
affected area. Some of the major epidemics in the United States are
listed
below:
1657 Boston Measles
1687 Boston Measles
1690 New York Yellow Fever
1713 Boston Measles
1729 Boston Measles
1732-3 Worldwide Influenza
1738 South Carolina Smallpox
1739-40 Boston Measles
1747 CT,NY,PA,SC Measles
1759 N. Amer [areas inhabited by white people] Measles
1761 North America and West Indies Influenza
1772 North America Measles
1775 N. Amer [especially hard in NE] epidemic Unknown
1775-6 Worldwide [one of the worst epidemics] Influenza
1783 Dover, DE ["extremely fatal"] Bilious Disorder
1788 Philadelphia and New York Measles
1793 Vermont [a "putrid" fever] and Influenza
1793 VA [killed 500 in 5 counties in 4 weeks] Influenza
1793 Philadelphia [one of the worst epidemics] Yellow Fever
1793 Harrisburg, PA [many unexplained deaths] Unknown
1793 Middletown, PA [many mysterious deaths] Unknown
1794 Philadelphia, PA Yellow Fever
1796-7 Philadelphia, PA Yellow Fever
1798 Philadelphia, PA [one of the worst] Yellow Fever
1803 New York Yellow Fever
1820-3 Nationwide [starts Schuylkill River and spreads] "Fever"
1831-2 Nationwide [brought by English emigrants] Asiatic Cholera
1832 NY City and other major cities Cholera
1837 Philadelphia Typhus
1841 Nationwide [especially severe in the south] Yellow Fever
1847 New Orleans Yellow Fever
1847-8 Worldwide Influenza
1848-9 North America Cholera
1850 Nationwide Yellow Fever
1850-1 North America Influenza
1852 Nationwide [New Orleans-8,000 die in summer] Yellow Fever
1855 Nationwide [many parts] Yellow Fever
1857-9 Worldwide [one of the greated epidemics] Influenza
1860-1 Pennsylvania Smallpox
1865-73 Philadelphia, NY, Boston, New Orleans} {Smallpox
Baltimore, Memphis, Washington DC} {Cholera
[A series of recurring epidemics of:}
{Typhus
{Typhoid
{Scarlet Fever
{Yellow Fever
1873-5 North America and Europe Influenza
1878 New Orleans [last great epidemic] Yellow Fever
1885 Plymouth, PA Typhoid
1886 Jacksonville, FL Yellow Fever
1918 (high point year) Influenza Worldwide more people were
hospitalized in WWI from this epidemic than wounds. US Army training
camps became death
camps, with 80% death rate in some camps
Finally, these specific instances of cholera were mentioned:
1833 Columbus, OH
1834 New York City

married: 27 Sept 1792

Specifically, I am trying to connect one of Stephen and Rachel's male
children to my line. I believe the most likely is Harvey, but I have no
information on his children. Does anyone have more on this family?
Thanks,
