Douglas Chaffey,
Regarding the mother of Hezekiah Camp, according to Milford Vital Records,
Volume 1 page 44, Samuel Camp and Rebecca Atkinson were his parents.
Regarding Mary Camp and Martin Hayes - Martin was born 1776 and was 22 years
old when he married Mary. Mary was either 25 if she was born in 1773 or 15
years old if she was born in 1783. Since I cannot find a source for my date
of 1773 I would, at this point, say that the 1783 tombstone date would be
correct and Mary Northrop would be her mother. If anyone has further
information on her birthdate, please post to the list.

Re: Abner Camp/Margaret Earl
The reason I was confused was I did not have Abner Camp and Margaret Earl
having a daughter named Elizabeth Camp born 1795 who married David Allen. I
checked with both Camp-Kemp volumes and nowhere is she mentioned. If Abner Sr
had Elizabeth who married David Allen and Abner Jr had Elizabeth who married
Champion Allen would indeed be cousins.
Do you have sources that list her? Does anyone on this list have any
information they could also please post.

Lydia Minerva Harris was married to Lacy Greer who was tragically killed on
Thanksgiving Day of 1904. The Greers had an extensive ranch and raised
cattle and horses. They went from their ranch, near Hunt, AZ, to the
railhead in Holbrook, AZ to ship their horses. While in the act of shipping,
a heavy gate came loose from its hinges and fell on Lacy, killing him
instantly.
Lydia Minerva Harris later married William Alpheus Gillespie and had three
more sons. She was the daughter of John Smith Harris and Nancy Lydia
Aldridge.

Barbara - From what I have been told her name was Lydia Minerva Harris Greer
(Gillespie). She remarried after my gr grandfather Lacy Greer died in an
accident with the Railroad in 1904. I am in fact awaiting a copy of her
death cert. from Riverside County, CA (just an hour away from me) so I may
verify the information and also find where she was buried. I know she is
buried in Riverside Co. also, just not sure which cemetery. This would be my
great grandmother. You may also contact Thad Greer at TWGreer(a)aol.com. He
is my mom's cousin and has extensive records on this line also.

Peggy Chapman,
Welcome to the Camp list, it is always nice to talk to new members. Thank

No connection to this Camp (that I know of) so only am passing on info from
this book.
Also, would like to talk with someone who is research Henry C. Camp b 1812
VA and his father, George Camp. Henry lived in Benton Co., TN in 1842.
Well, I don't want to be left out of the loop. This is my line:
Thomas Camp - Catherine Barron
Thomas Camp - Mary Marshall
Thomas Camp - Winifred Starling
John Camp - Mary Tarpley
James Camp - some say an unknown Ragsdale, others a Mary Berry
John ("Big-Headed John") Camp - Winnie Mattox
James Seaborn Camp - Elizabeth Parrish
John Thomas Camp - Martha Jane Duke
William Robert Camp - Mary Savannah Garner
James Irvan Camp - Virginia Brewer
Me - Mary Carole Camp - Lee Johnson
As I've stated before, I have very little information regarding James,
married to the Mary Berry. I've been told that Catherine Mann, of the
Mann Books, had some information just prior to her death that James
was not married to the unknown Ragsdale, but the known Mary Berry.
The Ragsdale family was obviously well accquainted with John and Mary
Tarpley Camp since they became the founding members (with others)
of the Lebanon Methodist Church near Princeton, SC. There is no
indication that I know of that James moved to SC with his parents.
Since his parents were married in VA, does anyone know when they
actually moved further south? There is a James Camp in the 1820
Gwinnett County GA census. I've noticed plenty of people descended
from John and Mary Tarpley Camp, but not James. Does anyone have
anything?
Carole

Could you please tell me the source information that indicates his parents

Thank you.

Susan was the widow of Samuel W Hall and when she married Thompson, her name
was listed as Susan C. Hall on the marriage record. Her maiden name on the
marriage record with Samuel W Hall was listed as Susan C. Hardyman. Her
parents were Tyler Hardyman and Catherine (Kitty) Christian, both of
Virginia. On the 1850 Census from Elyton, Jefferson County, Alabama there
were 4 Hall boys living some with Thompson and Susan and some with John Lay
Camp and Elizabeth Brown near by. I have somewhere in my files, a copy of
Samuel Hall's will. I have the Hardyman lineage back 6 generations from the
Hardyman/Hardiman family and Susan's grandmother was Rachel Tyler, an aunt
of president Tyler. Susan had a brother, Lewis and a sister Tomatia.
I will be happy to give out more information to whomever wants but much of
my Camp documentation is buried in boxes from the 1980's. This was the line
that I started with when I began my research. Recently, I have obtained
scrapbooks from my Grandmother's estate, Alice Moughon Camp. She saved
newspaper clippings from her early years and I have even found original
obituaries on Camps dating back to the 1850's which were clipped by her
ancestor's.

Barbara,
Thanks for your correction on Ichabod-my program put them in the wrong order
and I had not caught the mistake-only because I do not have a marriage date
for Ann & Ichabod. Do you have this date?
I have Camp Jones and Related Families by Nell Jones Carter (p5 )and Samuel
Camp (1645-1736), Son of Edward Camp and Mary Canfield of Connecticut by
Barbara Farris listed as my sources indicating Mary Cantfield was born in
Milford. Are they incorrect? Do you have other sources?
Thanks for any corrections!

Hello - I am new to this list.
I have a Hannah Camp b 15 Nov 1720 in Durham ? CT d 16 Oct 1808 m David Coe
in 1740 (source Robert Coe Puritan His Ancestors and Descendants, 1340 -

The above Hannah's parents were Nathan Camp and Rhoda Parsons.
Does this fit in with anyones data?
Thank you, Peggy

Thanks for your inquiry regarding the two matters relating to my inquiry -
I can't shed light on your first question - i.e. whether Hezekiah Camp
was the son of a prior wife of Samuel Camp of whom I havee no record.
The information that was sent to me indicated that Hannah Betts was
Hezekiah's mother. Where does your information on this come from? Mine
was from a relative who got it from FTMaker records with the help of
Barbara
Ferris. The second issue, relating to Mary Camp's mother, is a result
of a visit I made last summer to the cemetery where the Rev. Samuel
Camp and his three wives are intered, and a visit I made a year previously
to the Erie, PA cemetery where Mary Camp Hayes is interred. The birth
date from the records I received listed Mary as being the daugher of
Hannah Guernsey, as you suggested, and that she was born in 1773. The
date of birth listed on her tombstone is 1783. Hannah died in 1777, and
Samuel married Mary Northrop in 1782. I am making the judgment that the
date on Mary Camp Hayes' tombstone is correct, and that Mary Northrop was
the mother. If you can shed some light on this, I'd be happy to be dis-
abused of this theory. Dates on tombstones can certainly be wrong, and
even people in the 18th and 19th centuries could be vain.

Hi all,
Im researching William B. CAMP b. 1788 and his wife Elizabeth W. Anthony
b. 1811 and their daughter Sarah F. Camp Duggan b. 1831.
They all eventually lived in McMinn Co., TN, probably born in North
Carolina.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
