Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Since I have imposed on her already I would suggest you call Sally Miller at the
Platteville Historical Society tomorrow. The only day of the week the museum is
open. You can get that number from the Platteville City Hall which is listed. I
have the numbers at work...but thankfully I shall not see that place till the
new year :-). I am sure the clerk of the town or Sally will check the records
for you. Please let us know what you find out. Or you might even call Melvin
Camp who is alive and lives two doors down from the museum. He is in his ninties
and his memory is limited but he may recall what you want to know.
Good Luck

Actually everything is now posted at
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Canyon/9325/ with the exception of the
complete obit which was cropped wrong. To the right of the counter is a box
marked Lewis Camp with links 1 through 5.
Enjoy

Dear Larry
Thank you again for your kindness and the posting of the stories and photo's
to the site! It is simply wonderful! We are somewhat surprised that Lewis
lists his Mother as Mary Elizabeth, we believe her name to be Mary
Alavelda(Beadle)Camp. His Father called John, signed on Rilla Hattie's
marriage license as EDWIN so maybe his name was EDWIN JOHN CAMP? We wish we
knew all the names of his siblings. Wonder where we could find that
information?
Yours Sincerely,

Hi List & especially LARRY CAMP.
We have just returned home from visiting family in CA. for the Christmas
Holidays. What a wonderful present we got when we opened the E-mail. Larry
has very kindly passed on information from Sally Miller of the Platteville
Historical Society. Lewis Camp does belong to our family!! This is the BEST
Christmas present !!! We virtually knew nothing about him except that he was
a brother of Rilla Hattie Camp Thompson, Gerald's Grandmother. We will look
forward to seeing a photo when Larry gets his scanner up and running. So
miracles do still happen! Would love to hear from anyone who may have a
connection to us.
Most Sincerely,
Gerald & Marjorie Thompson of Sparks, NV>
Hi, unfortunately my scanner is down so I will have to wait until later
in the week to publish the materials I received on Lewis Camp today from
the Platteville, Co. Historical Society. But in a nutshell especially
for Gerald & Marjorie Thompson
of Sparks, NV. here are the facts.
Aha, Lewis's mother was a Beadle,Mary Beadle Camp.
Lewis was born Nov. 28th 1881 to John Camp and Mary Beadle pioneers of
the Platteville, Co. area.
He married Lucy Luella Egner on June 28, 1905 (I have a wedding pic of
the bride and groom I will post later).
He was a self made man and died at the age of 97 on Oct. 13, 1979. He
served as Mayor of Platteville for sixteen years. He was a town council
member for almost 34 years. I have a pic of him at 94 years of age
riding a three wheel cycle for exercise.
I have a 1955 photo of the family showing his children John, Lloyd,
Harold, Melvin and Mary Camp Mitchell. Not in the photo is a second
daughter Louise Camp Robb.
John W. was last listed in Lewis' obit as living in Long Beach, Ca.
Harold D. was listed as living in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Melvin and
Lloyd were living in Platteville, Mel still lives there in his 90's.
Louise Camp Robb was living in San Antonio, TX and Mary Camp Mitchell
was living in El Paso, TX.
Lewis is buried in Platteville, a Fort Lupton funeral parlor handled the
arrangements.
The obit of 1979 shows ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
(of which there are surely more now).
I promise to post this before the end of the week but for a short time
only. I think Barbara Farris will download and post on the Camp Family
Page what she deems appropriate.
I hope this helps, for Gerald and Marjorie and anyone else this may have
helped a note to Sally Miller at The Platteville Historical Society,
14064 W C R 30 , Platteville, Co. 80651 might be in order for finding
the materials, copying them and sending them to me to post.
Larry
Hi yall,
In working on the antecendents of my new Grandson Chase Miller, I was
astounded to find that the Father's ancestry led back to Thomas Kempe
(mid 1550's) England.
If for nothing but curiosity you might read the gedcom file and any
additions or corrections would be appreciated.
Access the gedcom through
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Canyon/9325/
Thanks
Larry
Finally, someone from my line! I am descended from Manassa's son, Elva
Marshall Camp. As I recall, I've found the census and other records in
Montgomery Co., Illinois and Toronto, Woodson Co.,Kansas for the 1850-1880
periods for Manassa and his family. Again from memory, family tradition has
it that in the 1880's or '90's Manassa (and wife?) and Elva with his family
moved to Latah Co., Idaho. I do have info on Elva and family in Potlatch,
Latah Co., Idaho, but I don't know if Manassa ever made it there. From that
time forward I have nothing on Manassa's other children. I'm pretty sure
that at least a couple of the others remained in Kansas, but I have no idea
how long they remained there.
Your post specifically wanted information about the ancestry or siblings for
Manassah, and I have nothing on that. Census records show the birth place
for him and his parents as being in North Carolina, but I have not been able
to find any specifics. I do have some info about Mary's parents (Thomas
Williams was her father).
Which one of Manassa's children are you from, and what do you have about
that line? Do you know where in Tennessee and North Carolina that Thomas
Williams was?

Hi Everyone:
I am new to the list and sure could use some help.
My ggggrandfather, Manassah Camp was born abt. 1817 in possibly New Jersey.
He married Elizabeth Mary Polly Williams, b. 1822, December 30, 1840.
Their children that I am aware of are:
George W. Camp b. abt 1846 in IL
Lorana (may have been Loraney) b. August 22,1848 in IL (my gggrandmother) m.
Thomas Alfred Williams
James W. Camp b. abt. 1851 in IL
William A. Camp b. abt. 1853 in IL
Elvy M. Camp (may have been Elva) b. abt. 1855 in IL
Edward R. Camp b. abt. 1857 in IL
Mary C. Camp b. abt 1860
Can anyone help with information on Manassah's parents and or siblings?
Tom White
I'm searching for descendants of the Thomas Camp who was born about 1907,
probably in Dane Co. WI or else in IL. I don't know if this Thomas had
siblings; his father was William F. Camp & mother unknown -- married
about 1903, probably in Dane Co. WI.
William F. Camp is believed to have been born in the 1870's in WI; his
parents were Thomas Perrington Camp & Emma Jane Colladay. William had an
older brother, George Lacey Camp (born 1866-Dane Co. WI) & a younger
brother, Charles Clair Camp born (1880-Columbia Co. WI); there was also a
sister, Stella Camp, who married John Kullmer.
My great-grandmother, Mary Augusta Camp, was a sister of Thomas
Perrington Camp.

Sorry Gerald and Marjorie I just made the mistake of reading the email
address.
This sounds like a gold mine....Platteville is one of the oldest mining
towns in Colorado with lots of history.

The Platteville Historical Society, Platteville, Colorado, has a long
history on Lewis Camp who was indeed the Mayor there for a time. His son Lem
is still alive in his ninties and a daughter is still living in Platteville.
They are mailing me dozens of documents on Lewis and family including a
picture of Mr. Lewis Camp riding his bycycle at age ninty four.Several other
pictures will be sent and I will scan them for download by the Sparks,
Barbara and anyone else interested.
Marriage and death certificates will be included. We hit a Bingo on this
one. Can you tie the rest of your line back to the Carolina, GA, AL Camps?
