Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
A lot more Camp data has been added to the site:
1. The 1850 Texas Census has been posted thanks to all the hard work of Faye
& Fred Allen and Linda Preston. Thanks so much to these three wonderful
volunteers and we all really appreciate their help. If anyone else wants to
volunteer to extract census data for us, we still have some states left that
need to be done.
2. A lot of obits have been posted lately and I had to split the page into
two parts: One for state/county obits that we find in newspapers. These are
usually one liners that give the name, age, place of death , newspaper and
date of publishing. With this information you can search the newspaper
archives and get the actual obit. This list is modern listings and from the
last several years.
The other page is a link to the Rootsweb Camp Obituary Page which anyone can
post the actual obituary itself and could contain ancient and modern obits.
3. Some Georgia census records from 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 have been
posted thanks to Larry.
4. Marriage records from various states have been posted. You should
re-check those in your area of interest in case we have added more since you
last looked at them.

Thanks. Did Starling even have a sister named Mary?

That's the date I had for him. Did Starling CAMP die in 1830? If so, he
couldn't have been the father. Would like to know the answer to this
dilemma.
Also, I guess that James CAMP and Mary BERRY didn't have a dau. named Mary
who married William JARRELL as I've seen posted elsewhere, did they?
Thanks for all of your help, Linda.

I have just posted a page at
http://www.geocities.com/ancestry_info/index.html
It includes my ancestry with several surnames
CAMP,ATKINS,PARHAM,DOLLAR,GLADDEN,BARRET,YOUNG and a few others. It is
certainly incomplete and I am asking you to view the page and send me
info that I can use to verify and update the information. Please send
anything that will help.
Thanks
Larry

I believe all the children were born in Leon, Catt. Co. NY but have no proof.

Elaine,
I just checked my copies of the Bible records and it appears that
Starling Camp's date of death is April 2, 1836. I can see where the 6 could
be mistaken for a 0, but I believe it is a 6.
No, the Mary Camp who married William Jarrell was Mary FISH Camp. It
really gets confusing with so many names the same and so closely
interrelated.
Linda
Elaine,
I realized I forgot to tell you Mary Fish Camp's other husband was
William Jarrell they married 6, Feb. 1838. Willis was born May 7, 1841.
Also, I just came across a note that page 532 of the book History of Butts
County, GA has the wife of Nathan Fish Camp as Sara M. Andrews. I am quite
sure this is the same couple, as they had a daughter named Mary Evaline
Camp, obviously named for his sister. The daughter had children named
Nathan Fish Thaxton and Willis Jarrell Thaxton as well as six other
children.
Linda
I have photocopies of the Family Record from the Starling Camp Bible showing
"James B. Camp was orn thee 30th October 1832. Another page shows "James
B. Camp and Maryanna Dillen was married May the 8th 1850". I guess I failed
to mention him before. Sorry.
Linda
I had found somewhere that James Berry CAMP, b. 30 Oct 1832 and married
Marryanna DILLENS was a son of Starling and Mary (FISH) CAMP. Whose son is
he then? What was the given name of Mary FISH's other husband and when was
Willis born?
Thanks.

Alabama. More later if you know these people. Many thanks. Mary Coleman

Someone asked awhile back if Lewis C. and Nathan F. Camp, sons of Starling
Camp and Mary "Polly" Fish, had died in the War Between the States.
According to the Muster Roll of Co. "B" 30th Reg. GA Vol. Inf. ,Army of TN,
CSA for Butts Co. GA both did. Lewis is listed as "killed at Chickamauga
Sept. 19, 1863" and Nathan "killed at Murfreesboro Dec. 7, 1864." Their
half brother ,Willis F. Jarrell was listed as "died in service". I have his
date of death as June 28, 1864, according to the Starling Camp Bible. Also,
I have Nathan Camp listed as having married Sarah An Andrews on March 2,
1848 according to the Starling Camp Bible.
Hope this helps someone.
Linda
I'm unfortunately at work and not near my research but, I'm so excited about finding this list that I would like to ask a question now.
My Grandmother NEE Frances Marion Camp (b. 1899-1900) married Pleman Robert Johnston around 1920. Her mother was a Hairston. Do you have the ancestry (Camp) of my grandmother already?
Fran Johnston
Hi, Al,
Thanks for your observation. Have you or anyone you know of really
researched our James? I felt that the Mann' coverage was sketchy,
but didn't know if that was due to a lack of time or sources.
My daughter is a student at UGA and I frequently drive through
Jefferson, which I think has pretty good records of the area.
Any suggestions of where to start?
Carole

I must have missed the beginnings this thread which talks about Camps in
Sullivan Co., Mo. In 1878 my Elva Marshall Camp married Jemima Ann, nee
Warren, Walker. She was born in Sullivan Co., Missouri on 9 May 1858.
Elva, my gggrandfather was born June 21, 1855 in Montgomery Co., IL. I'm
not sure where they met, but they were married 2/27/78 in Toronto, Woodson
Co., Kansas, then moved to Latah Co., ID and finally to Oregon.
Elva was the son of Manassa Camp and Mary E. Williams. I don't know anything
about Manassa's ancestry, but he married Mary in 1840 in Montgomery Co., IL
and their children included Elva; George, b. 1846 in IL; Linany or Loranna,
b. 1848 IL; Jacob, b. 1858 in IL; James W., b. 1852 in IL; Manassa, b. 1862;
an adopted child Ida, b. 1873 in Kansas; Edward R., b. abt 1857 in IL;
William A., b. abt 1853 in IL; and Ben W. b. abt. 1846 in IL.
