Are there any Camp families on line from the Coweta Co GA area. I just found
out that one of my ancestors was George Washington Camp living in Coweta Co
GA in the 1850 and 1860 census. does anyone know if his father is Edmund
Camp and if so, did he leave a will? Descendants of this line latter moved
to Carroll co GA.
Thanks for any and all help.

Dear Tobi,
This is a long shot, but he could be a relative of mine. However,
I'd have to know who his parents and possibly grandparents were in order
to make the connection.
My Camps descend from John Camp, Sr., through his son Jacob, who
lived in PA his whole life. He had a lot of sons, though, and the
youngest three (Washington, Anthony, and Harrison) came "out West,"), got
married, etc. I descend from Harrison who m. Elizabeth Fife. Below is an
outline descendant tree on my line. As you can see, I don't have a great
deal of information on the descendants of these three Camp men. However,
whenever I hear of Camp families in the Pacific Northwest, I always wonder
if they might be related.
I realize this isn't much help but if you even run across any of
these names, if you let me know, perhaps we could help eachother put
together parts of the puzzle.

Hi Steve and Barbara...Steve, you asked me to fill you in on Gabriela Camp.
I didn't realize it, but my nephew has done some research about the Camps in
Jefferson Co, Ky. The following is from a copy of an article that he sent
me that was apparently printed before 1982 about the Camps' (publication
unknown). I have a small problem with the dates listed since they are at
odds with the information at the Camp website...the b/d dates of both John
(1757-1801) and Robert Ambrose (1782-bet 1830-1840) and the names of their
respective wives...Mary Strother Gray and Sarah Pollard:
"Ambrose Camp (1757-1828) came from Culpeper County, Virginia and
settled in Goshen on the other side of Louisville. He served in the
Revolutionary War at the age of 22 and the land he settled on was believed
to be a land grant for his services. He married Miss Elizabeth Cooms. The
family burned bricks and built their house that remains today. At present
it is the Belknap home.
"Thomas Pollard (1799-1876), son of Ambrose married Susan Magruder
(1802-1872). Susan's father was Capt Enoch Magruder, veteran of the
Revolutionary War. He received around 1000 acres of land in Valley Station
for his services in the war. This was part of the land William P. Adams and
Alice Lewis Adams purchased in 1876 from the Magruder heirs, presently owned
by Dr. Hicks.
"After Thomas Camp and Susan were married, Thomas bought 1059 acres of
land. This property joined the John Woolfork 4000 acre tract and Byrd tract
of 5000 acres. This Woolfork property was the land that Willis Moremen
later owned, because in both deeds it is stated that land is left for a
church, and also leaves land for a cemetery. The Woolfork's lived on their
land for a time and according to deeds it seems to me that the house of Mr
Richard Fenley could have been built either by the Woolforks or John Speed,
who had a patent on the 4000 acres.
"The Camp farm was located on Deering Road where the Houchin family now
live. William Adams later owned this too, after the Camps' sold.
"Thomas Pollard and Susan had several children; Frank, a lawyer;
Angereau, druggist who moved to Texas; Horace, grandfather of Ailsie Camp
(Mrs F. L. Wilkerson); Joshua; Ambrose, who fought in the Orphans Brigade of
the Civil War and later was jailer for many years in Louisville; Gabriella;
Elizabeth; Susan; and Clementine (1830-1903). Gabriella (1838-1918) married
James R. Gray (1836-1904). From this union there were five children; Mattie
(Mrs Blanchard), Ambrose, Horace, Frank and Jesse. Mrs Mattie Gray
Blanchard has two children; Louise (Mrs Hyatt), and Gray. Mrs. Blanchard is
in her eighties and lives with her daughter, Mrs. Hyatt. They helped with
the family record of the Camps.
"Thomas and Susan's daughter Gabriella or Gaby as she was known,
although Protestant, was educated in a Catholic Girls School. At the time
of the Civil War and when the army marched through here on their way to
Louisville, and took every thing was they proceeded, she watched as the
soldiers led all the horses from the barn. They finally came to her small
horse, Fanny, who came out of the barn lame. After walking the horse around
several times the soldiers left without her. Gaby rushed out to see her
horse, but could find nothing the matter with her. Perhaps there was
something temporarily wrong with the horse's foot, but you could never prove
that to Gaby. She believed Fanny was something special and a very good
actor. James T. Gray, whom Gaby married was Superintendent of the Water
Works for many years and he planted the rows of trees that are still
standing there.
"During the Civil War many young men who were inducted by conscription
into the Northern army deserted to the South. Some of these men came across
the Ohio Rived near Goshen. In one instance a young boy of fourteen,
William P. Adams, drove a spirited team and spring board wagon from Goshen
to Valley Station. His mission was to deliver a grandfathers clock, but in
the clock a Southern sympathizer was hiding. The boy brought him through
the back roads to the Camp farm, of whom the young deserter was a relative.
He hiding in the hills above the farm and the Camps fed him until he could
join the Southern army"
There appears to be more to this article about the Camps...will try to
research the source.
Thanks again for your help....Thomas P

I am searching for information on Julia B. Camp, born in White Oak Creek,
Rutherford Co., NC., and died in 1853. She was married on 10 May 1819 to
David K. Fisher who was born in Lancaster, PA. They had 9 children. Both
Julia and David were charter members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church
in Harrison County, TX on 11 April 1848. Any help would be appreciated.

Barbara,
My mother just told me of one "George CAMP" (my third cousin) working at
a railroad roundhouse in Auburn, Washington (State). Apparently he was
killed when a boiler blew up. Mom didn't know the year, but thought it to be
late 1960's or even early 70's. Does anyone have a link to this CAMP???
Would really appreciate any help as I can't seem to get anywhere with other
CAMP's in my line.
Thanks so much,
Tobi

I was wondering if this line is missing Joseph W. in the descendancy lineup
(being son of Thomas and Winifred) or if the descendancy on Oddballz
concerning James CAMP and Mary LOONEY was wrong. Would appreciate the info.
Thanks for all of your work, Barbara.

Edward Camp, born 1769 was a deacon in the Buffalo Church who died in1805 at
the age of 36 and his wife's name and the names of his children has never
been known. This Edward certainly did not have a James Camp, born 1791 who
married Mary Looney. (Camp-Kemp Family History, Page 119-123)(John Steel

I think they are mixing up Edward/Edmund Camp and Elizabeth Carney, son of
Thomas Camp III and the Edward Camp, son of Joseph Camp and Susannah
Roundtree.

William's father/mother was Ambrose Camp (1723-3-11-1768) and Ann Marshall
(1739-?).
Is that any help? Steve Camp

It has been a while since I posted any of my information - so, in the hope
that maybe someone new has a connection - here we go.
The earliest I can find my CAMPs are my 3gr grandparents and their son (my
2gr grandfather). They are in the 1850 Cleveland Co., NC Census (Roll 625,
Page 192).
Alexander Camp 22
Ellender " 17
William E. " 2
Here is my direct line from William Elbert CAMP.
1 CAMP, William Elbert b: November 30, 1848 in NC d: October 28, 1931
in AR +ROGERS, Martha Emmaline b: August 08, 1852 d: September 25, 1917
2 CAMP, John Alexander b: Sept 18, 1872 in Rock Hill SC d: February
24, 1948 +REAP, Mary b: Abt. 1878
3 CAMP, Nace Edward b: Feb 24, 1903 d: Feb 25, 1977 in Pine Bluff, AR
+HAYES, Harmel Hazel b: Nov 24, 1909 d: Jan 19, 1996 in Little Rock,

5 ROUSE, Terri Lynne b: December 26, 1956 in Carlisle Clinic,Carlisle, AR
Any info about the parents of Alexander would be much appreciated. I have my
guesses about his folks but have not been able to find any definitive proof.
Trying to find a specific CAMP in North or South Carolina is the proverbial
"needle in a haystack."
Thanks,
Terri Spurling
The American Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has over 152
volumes of applications submitted from women who have descended from a
soldier/patriot of the American Revolution. These records are fantastic for
find lineages and military services. I have finally received permission
from the Ancestry Corporation to place the Camp entries on the Camp web site.
I am in the process of posting these entries and so far I have only done the
first 25 volumes. This is a long process and will take some time for me to
complete this project, but I will be doing several volumes each week.
The DAR records are located under the "military" heading. If you connect with
some of these applications and want to contact the submitters, just note the
name and ID number of the submitter and request a copy. (The address is on
the first page when you enter those records.) I do not know if there is a
fee for the copy or not. Maybe someone on the list has had experience
ordering them and can let us know.

I find the William Washington Camp exchange quite interesting, especially as
I look over my pedigree and find Moseleys. I have Sarah East MOSELEY
5/4/1781 of Buckingham, VA md to Benjamin Bondurant and also Martha Camp (no
parents listed) married to Arthur Moseley abt 1730 of Henrico, VA.
Do they tie in with anything that you have?
The line goes like this:
Thomas Camp and Winnifred Starling
Edmund Camp and Elizabeth Carney
James Camp and Mary "Polly" Looney
Martin Van Buren Camp and Sarah Coziah Sheid
Steve Camp
