I am looking for info on James Camp, b. 4 Feb, 1811, Whittingham, NE, d. 22
April, 1879, Rockport Ma. He married Betsy Jepson (b. 1808, Pownal, Vt).

Can anyone provide more info for me?
Trying to gather information for a friend(possible cousin). Her father was
Thomas Frankling CAMP. His siblings were: Sara Clementine,Lois,Charlie,Opal

My friend knows her grandfathers name was Benjamin Franklin CAMP but does not
know the name of her grandmother(neither given nor surname).
She says her GreatGrandfather was also Benjamin Camp and his children were:
Mary Ann,Maude,Adrian(maybe Adrian Benjamin),Joel,Grady,Benjamin(her
grandfather)Emma and Gus.
They lived in Ga,Ala and Florida.
Does anyone know of this family? The only birthdate she has is that her
father was born in 1904.

I have checked the Camp Family Database and do not find any information on
your Jonathan Camp/Kamp/Kemp that was born in 1742.
Also, regarding the Jonathan Camp #30502, my software puts in "was born" when
in fact he apparently was not born in Homer but was probably residing in
Homer, Louisiana. He may have been born elsewhere. I have no information on
this Jonathan so I don't know if he is the same Jonathan that you are looking
for.

Hello Camps
This is my first time to post a query to the list.
I have been searching for about 25 yrs for the parents of Jonathan
Camp/Kamp/Kemp born c. 1742, probably in NC. I have not been able to confirm
his place of birth.
This Jonathan died in Greensburg, St Helena Parish, Louisiana on Dec. 2, 1814.
He came to Louisiana from Georgia about 1800, when he took up a Spanish land
grant in St. Helena Parish.
He married first, Sallie Patsy Womack
Secondly, Jonthan married Elizabeth Cox.
The first documented evidence of Jonathan's appearance in Georgia is found in
Candler's Colonial Records of GA. He petitioned on 3rd July, 1770 for a grant
of 100 acres in St. George's Parish (Burke Co.) on Rocky Creek. This record
states that he came to GA from NC.
Jonathan Camp served in the Revolution with the rank of captain in the NC
militia.
Does anyone have any information on this Jonthan Camp?
There are 2 Jonathan Camps on the Family Assoc. page.
#30502 - JONATHAN CAMP was born in OF HOMER, , LOUISIANA.
I don't understand this entry. Was this Jonthan born in Homer Louisiana?
Could that be a mistake, and this Jonathan is the same as the one above born
in NC in1742?
I would appreciate a reply,
Best regards,
Fort
Dear Debbie,
I feel as you do. How can one family be so hard to find? Camps! It is
absolutely unbelievable. My Camps lived in Atsion, NJ, right around Hammonton
and Vincenton. I think that's how you spell it. Anyways, I visited Atsion 2
years ago, and found several Camps, and they are related, but no one seems to
know anything. My grandmother was a Camp, so we're told. She died when my mom
was 5 or 6 yrs. She was taken from her mother's family, by her dad, and he
would never talk about it to my mother. So, I have a death certificate, but
cannot find a birth cert. or who her (grandmother's) parents were.
The 1900 census' show a whole road of Camps living next door to each other.
There were also several in Cape May. I don't know if this helps you, but
maybe we can make a connection. Where in south Jersey are you looking?
Also, mom remembers being told the Camps were part Indian. I believe Atsyonk,
from what I've found in reading material. This may be another part of our
problem. Her family worked on the Campbell property, growing and harvesting
vegetables. Does any of this sound familiar to you?
You are probably past this era, but just in case.
Good luck with your research, and if you don't mind, let me know if there is a
possible connection.

Tracy,
I wished I could give you some information, however it appears you have more
than I. If and when I receive any more, I will get in touch with you.
Thanks for you response, it's very warming to hear from others.
Nina, in search of Camps
Hi.
I am looking for information regarding the Children of Capt. Samuel Camp b.
Nov 11, 1735 and died Nov. 3, 1810. He was the son of John and Hannah
(Hickox) Camp. He married Phebe Coe who was born Jan 21, 1735-6 in Haddam,
CT. Birth recorded in Durham, CT
They had 10 children. The two I am interested in finding information about is
Samuel Coe Camp b. June 2, 1761. Who did he marry and where? When did he die
and children information.
The other is son Ebenezer b. Nov 28, 1763. Need same information.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
Tracy
Hi Barbara,
I just noticed your post to the Camp-L rootsweb. I think it was me that
posted the James Camp information. If so I guess I messed up according to
your email.
James Camp was the father of Rhuhama Camp and she married Albert Bristol.
Albert Bristol's father' was Huron Bristol, actually Harrison Bristol, but
Huron is what he went by, also nicknamed "Shagbark" I am told. They may have
lived in Canada for a few years.
Do you have any information on this line? Any cousins out there? I was
just out visiting their graves today and taking pictures of cemetery stones.

I believe you sent this mail to me in error. I did write to you about Camp's,
but you had answered me already. I will see what I can find out on my
territory of Camps. Thanks for your help.
Nina
I show Rhuhama Camp married Albert Bristol and you stated she married Huron
Bristol. Can you give me any further information on this conflict of names.
Also do you have the names, etc of their children. I do not show that
information.

Hi Barbara: I am still plugging away at the CAMPS plus several others.
I indicated that I would mail you off the info I have on the CAMPS and
should be able to mail tomorrow.
I have two Israel CAMPS, both sons of John CAMP Sr. b 1686 d 1767. One
Israel was b 1717 d 1723 and the next b 1723 d 1778.
I have enclosed a fair amount of info, including a list of all CAMPS
that I have.
Thanks Mary Clairmont :)
I have heard somewhere that William Camp (born about 1773 in Rutherford
County, NC, died after 1812 in Elyton, AL) had a nickname "Snipe Bill". Does
anyone know how he got this nickname? He was the son of John Camp and Mary
Tarpley.
Thanks.
Peggy
Hi! I'm new to the mailing list! I don't have much info on the camps, but
this is what i have:
Frances Anna Adams who was born 30 Sep 1867 in Walton Co. GA, married first
George G. Robinson, 1884, in Gwinnett Co. After his death she married a
Chandler. She died in Fulton Co. on 28 Dec 1937, and is buried in Buckhead,
in Morgan Co. Her death cert. lists her parents as being George Adams born in
GA, and Susan Camp also born in GA.
I presume that Susan is from either Walton or Morgan Co., if you have anything
on any of these people, please contact me. Thanks!

There have been several instances lately that messages were sent to this list
but were not posted because Rootsweb only accepts "plain text" mail. That
means that HTML mail, attachments, "enriched text" and a few other formats
can't be sent to any Rootsweb mailing lists. These posts are forwarded to me
and I have to manually post them, which of course, I always do, but it does
take some of my time to do this and does cause a few days delay in getting the
messages posted.
Rootsweb has stated - You can post your message if you send it in plain text;
turn off the "Post in HTML" or "Enriched Text" features of your mail reader,
or don't use any attachments. We've had to institue this policy because of
the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. All in all, mail in
these formats produces a lot of problems for Roots web's servers and
subscribers, so we find it best just to use plain text.

Margaret Owens, born 1837 in TN. They had 5 children: Mary, B Frank, John,

I have searched the Camp Family Database and do not find a Seth Camp whose
father was Israel Camp. Do you have any further information such as a date or
place Seth Camp was born, or for Israel, any wife's names?
If you could give us a little more information, we would appreciate it.
