I suggest going to the Camp Family Page at
http://new-jerusalem.com/genealogy/barbara/camp.htm
On that page scroll down to item IX, Family lineages. Under the children of
Thomas Camp and Winifred Starling, Benjamin Camp and Elizabeth Dykes are
listed, and they are ancestors of your Benjamin Camp.
I believe that you will find your Benjamin at
http://new-jerusalem.com/genealogy/barbara/benjamin/benjamin.htm
and he is individual #17.
As for the ancestors of Thomas Camp and Winifred Starling, this website has
some links to other websites with the their ancestries. If you go to
http://new-jerusalem.com/genealogy/barbara/links.htm
items 7 & 9 are links to sites listing the ancestry of Thomas Camp.
Finally, there is an excellent Thomas Camp ancestry site at
http://www.next1000.com/family/EC/camp.thom.html
that has quite a bit of documentation on it. It's most helpful for pointing
out the available documentation on the family.
Hope this helps!

I am interested in the additional information on Benjamin Camp. I have
Benjamin Ichabod Camp BD 11/10/1803, Warren, GA Md to Winifred Arnold. I have
his bros and 1 sister who are siblings to my GG Grandfather Williams
Washington Camp. Any more info on him and/or this family would be greatly
appreciated.

Barbara:
I have the burial site for one Benjamin Camp, but I have no
idea without looking back over the recent queries (which I don't
have time to do right now.
A Benjamin Camp is buried in the old cemetery at Campbellton Methodist
Church, near Fairburn, GA. The headstone reads:
Sacred
To the Memory of
Benjamin Camp
Born
Nov. 10, l801
Died
Nov. 21, l884.....
His wife was named Winifred. If this is the correct Benjamin who is being
sought, I can supply a bit more info. in July.

Glenda,
Your Henry C. Camp is in the 1850 Benton County, Tenn census and shows he was
born about 1817 in Virginia. I have checked the Camp Family Database and he
is there with his children but not connected yet to any Camp family. In the
1850 census, there is also a James M. Camp, born 1812 Virginia s/o of James
Camp (s/o Thomas Camp III) and Sarah Jennings. This could possibly be a
connection perhaps brother, cousin?

Also, just for the fun of it, I am including part of a transcription of an
interview I audio taped of my mother, Toletha Louise [Martin] Bickers, in
her home in Spring Bay, Illinois on August 19, 1978. This relates to living
in the Camp House.
"I don't know what age I was when Mom (Rhoda Myrtle (Trent) Copsy) and I
moved back to Bement. That's when we moved into the Camp House. Mamo
(Rhoda) was poor. She was a cook there, but that was like cooking at home.
They treated us just like one of the family. That was the banker and his
wife and their daughter and her husband - and Mom and I. They had a yard
man. They had cows and he did the milking. That house had twenty rooms.
The back porch -- one thing about the back porch was the huge icebox. On
this side of the icebox was a big table. They'd take out pans of cream and
put them on the table. Milk -- and they'd take off that thick cream. It
would stick on my finger when I got into it! Yeah! Mamo and I had a small
room on the second floor, which the other bedrooms for the daughter and her
husband were in, and then a den and two or three or four guestrooms. There
was only one bathroom in the house that I can remember, but there had to be
another one.
The elderly Camps lived downstairs in the bedroom right off the -- they
called it the sitting room then -- but it would be a family room now. You
cold come through the first one front door into the family room. It had a
big fireplace. Mr. Camp was an invalid. I don't know -- I never did hear
what was wrong with him. He was always in his wheelchair setting in front
of the fireplace and always wanted me around him.
She (Mrs. Camp), was a nice, little old lady, too. Except one time. They
had a parlor. No one was ever allowed in there, of course. But I sneaked
in a few times. I was older. There was a huge hall from the other entrance
to the house in front. They were both in front, but the other one was like
a grand hallroom where guests came in that hall. A big stairway went up the
stairs, but of course, Mom and I went up the back stairs from the kitchen
which led right up to our bedroom. We didn't have to go through the house.
It was another one of those enclosed stairs with a door at the top and a
door at the bottom. I didn't like those kind of stairs at all. Nothing
open like we have now. Anyhow, one time -- I don't know where the music was
from, but here was some music on. Evidently the handyman - that's what he
was called - handyman, gardner, whatever -- ad been taking down drapes or
curtains or whatever, and he'd left some of these curtain rods. And there
was some music on, or else I sang it. And I picked them up and was dancing
around, using them like a violin. And whew! Mrs. Camp came in there! Boy,
was she mad! That's the only thing I ever remember about her getting after
me. Otherwise, I was like the pet of the whole household.
They had a - I don't know - it was my doll house of my playhouse. It might
have been the girl's playhouse built for her. I don't know whether they had
more than just one daughter or not now. Their ground was huge -- for a
city. I would say it was four blocks long, facing the main street of town.
The house sets right in the middle as you walk down them. I don't remember
the name of the street at all. No. This set back. They had a pasture
beyond that and a barn and everything. Anyhow, this little house set out
there and the handyman kept some of his things in there -- tools -- but I
used it as a playhouse. I had dishes out there. All kinds of things.
And I had little saltshakers, saltsellers as they call them, that were -- I
don't know if they were china or what they were. I had regular little
dishes and played out there and had kids come over and play with me. I had
my playhouse all by myself. Even though it did have a few tools in there,
it was nice. They gave me a birthday party there.
That's where I got to like lilacs. Oh, my! They had lilac bushes tall as
any tree we have here. They had been trimmed where I could walk through
them -- all around. It was on one whole side from the house, clear to the
railroad. The other side had shrubbery of all kinds, but that one was just
full of like woods."
----- Now, my mother was born in 1915, so the time frame probably would
have been in the early 1920's. I believe she was already in grade school.
Anyway, I do hope that some of this information helps the Camp family.
I've always wondered if the daughter from the Bement Camp family would
remember my mother & grandmother. I never dreamed I would ever find any
contact with the Camp family to offer this information, etc., but this
internet sure has helped genealogist in so many ways.
Well, I must close for now & send this off. Hope to hear what you think.
Sincerely, Russ Bickers, West Hollywood, California

I believe the problem with the Camp site are fixed now and everyone seems to
be able to get to the page.
I have changed the format to make it load faster. I have put the 'family
lineages' and 'links to other camp pages' on separate pages. Hopefully, this
will improve the speed. If you get a 404 error when trying to click onto a
family lineage, it is because I have not put a page there. Sorry, but I have
been too busy updating and correcting the lineages, trying to keep the
correspondence answered (doing okay on email, but the snail mail is about a
year behind), GEDCOM's inputting, typing, changing diapers, cooking, cleaning
etc, etc, etc! :)) Maybe I need an assistant! :)
Anyway, I hope this helps. If anyone has any suggestions or corrections,
please let me know. Would love to hear from you.

Hi Lynne:
I wanted to thank you for sending the Camp information regarding Benjamin
Camp and Elizabeth Dykes. It was most helpful! I really do appreciate it.
I drove through your neck of the woods about the time you were sending the
information without knowing we were so close. We were on a vacation to
Washington DC, and Virginia. On the way back we stopped in to see some
friends in Charlotte, NC then drove on to Atlanta and spent the night there.
It really is pretty country there in Northeast Georgia. Would have loved to
have met you and thanked you personally.
Anyway if there's ever anything else I can do for you, let me know. Bye the
way, did you ever talk to Jim Camp in Milam County ,TX?

Have your tried KAMP or even KEMP in your searching? I ran across KEMP
for CAMP many times in our searching along the MA-VT border. After all,
they do sound alike to whoever recorded the information.
