I just got the posting from Judy Canant and I apologize but I must put a hole
in your line.
John Hamlin Camp who married Dorothy Chamberlain Jones is my 2nd great
grandfather and he AND his father, John Camp born 1754, Virginia are buried in
Giles County, Tennessee. John Camp died 1820 and John Hamlin Camp in 1829.
John Hamlin and Dorothy Camp had a son named John James who died as a child
and is buried there also.
I have extensive information on the family from John Camp forward but I do not
know his parents.
I hope this does not put too much else out of whack.
Bobbie Camp Floyd, Portland Texas
Hello CAMP cousins. Here I am again, hoping to find someone with information
or proof on the connection of my Robert Ambrose Camp. I feel sure that I have
him in the right place now, but do lack enough absolute evidence. Need help.
Our Libraries here in Central FL lack the info I need for this link.

Hi all:
I'm new to the list, having just discovered a Camp ancestor. I am a
descendant of Winifred Camp who married Robert Atkins. I know nothing of
Winifred and Robert other than that they had a son, John Atkins, who was
born in 1797 in Edgefield Dist., Laurens, SC. Any information anyone can
provide on Winifred's ancestry would be most appreciated.

Hi Barbara,
Thanks for your time. I have a few spouses of the twelve known
children of Joseph ATWELL abt 1800 and Mary M. CAMP abt 1805:
Eliza Jane ATWELL md. 1845 Daniel JOHNSON
Mary Adeline ATWELL md. 1860 Richard A. DELONG
Louisa A. ATWELL md. 1866 George W. MARTIN
Rosannah ATWELL md. 1864 James H. SPENCE
William Baxter ATWELL md abt 1850 Anne CROW
Sarah S. ATWELL md. 1851 Levi Johnson SEABOLT

I have census records, but not much more than that, except Eliza Jane
ATWELL JOHNSON, my great great grandmother. Also, in 1860 I have census
records with some of the younger children living in other homes; no
Joseph ATWELL, (probably dead), and a Mary ATWELL, (maybe mine) age 60
living with a Benfamin McCray family.
Thanks for your help again,
Jeanne

In trying to determine the parentage of Mary Camp born abt 1805 who married
Joseph Atwell, I have listed all the possible Camp families in 1810 Virginia
who may be the possible parents:
Wythe County:
James Camp
James Camp
Norfolk County:
William G. Camp
John Camp
John Camp
Miles Camp
Culpepper County:
Wills Camp
William Camp
Caroline County:
Richard Camp
Franklin County:
Jordon Camp
You should really check the Wythe County Camp's as Smyth County was
established from Wythe County in 1832. Since Mary raised her children in Smyth
County, the records for her marriage and her first three children should be in
Wythe County (possibly). If you could send me any information on this family,
the children's spouse and their children, I would appreciate it. I will input
the information in the Camp Family Database and if there is any connections, I
will contact you.

My 1996 Alumni Directory for Jonesboro High School, Clayton County

lists the younger three children; the youngest Clark, was known to me as

Dear Trudy:
I received your request for information about Williams Washington Camp via e-
mail.
Williams Washington Camp is my great-great-grandfather. I am descended from
his son, Williams Peter Camp, and my grandmother is Margaret Camp Peterson. I
believe that other members of my family have completed considerable family
history on this line (Margaret Camp Peterson, etc.). I would be very happy to
exchange info with you, but we will have to wait until June as I am getting
married next week and will be unavailable next week.
Just for your information, I travelled to Weakley County, TN a few weeks ago
and found many references to W.W. Camp and his son, James Greer Camp, in the
land records at the County Courthouse in Dresden. You will also be very
interested to know that the Camp family home is still standing! It is a large
2-story home that has a colorful history. I found a reference to the home in
a book at the local library that I can send to you. And finally, I have a
copy of a personal history written by Diannah Greer Camp as told to her
daughter. This history was obtained from the Special Collections Department
of the Harold B. Library at Brigham Young University.
Well, I hope we will be able to talk soon. I'm very excited about
corresponding with you. Thanks again!
