On the basis that there is no such thing as useless information, I was in
York Cemetery (ie York, England) last week, and whilst wandering around,
found the following monumental inscriptions which may help someone,
somewhere. Each gravestone is separated by lines:
===========================================================
Jane PICKERING, wife of James PICKERING, who died 27 Jan 1881, aged 45
Rose PICKERING, wife of Henry PICKERING, who died 19 Nov 1880 age 21
Reginald James PICKERING, so of Henry PICKERING aged 6 months (no date)
Also of the above James PICKERING, who died 29 April 1897, age 69
& Jessie, only daughter of Louisa and above James PICKERING, 19 Jun 1904
age 21.
===========================================================
Margaret Ann, wife of Parker Milner PICKERING of Holgate, 7 Jan 1873 aged
37
===========================================================

city.

Also Annie, mother of above, who died July 1899 age 72 yrs

1909 age 81
Also Mary Annie CAMIDGE 7 June 1943 (no age)
Also Laura Anne Rosalie REED, 2 May 1944 (no age), daughter of William and
Anne.
===========================================================
Samuel CAMIDGE, of this city, who died 18 Mar 1873 age 73
Also Mary his wife, died 28 Aug 1861 age 65
Elizabeth, wife of Robert HOARE, daughter of above, 4 Oct 1892 age 60
and Robert HOARE, 31 Aug 1904, age 81
===========================================================
Isabella WILEY, 1 Jun 1878, age 71
===========================================================
These are not (as far as I know) connected to me, but they are surnames in
which I am interested.
Note that if you have ancestors who lived in York, the cemetery has had the
burial entries all indexed and databased - see their web site at:-
http://homepages.tesco.net/~hugh.murray/arc2.htm
However, if you do take advantage of the service, then beware that York
Cemetery is very large, and the graves are not in a very logical order. I
had great expectations of finding loads of useful gravestones (having got
the grave numbers from the database). This was not practical, and I ended
up doing just two - and one of them didn't have a gravestone!
