Linda,
I believe that your uncle Charles (was he Charles H. Camidge of Ontario?) may
have written to my father, Anthony Brian Camidge of Kingston-Upon-Hull, UK,
approximately 20 years ago. My father, for personal reasons I have since come
to understand more fully, chose not to reply to that letter.
My father, always known as Brian, was born in Guisborough, North Yorkshire,
on 22 October 1937, and died in Kingston-Upon-Hull, East Yorkshire on 3
September this year. His mother was Margaret Ann, nee Muir, who died in Guisborough
in late September/early October 1982. I am afraid that I have no idea who my
grandmother's husband was, although it would appear that they went their
separate ways during the mid-1930s. The couple had two daughters Valerie and Jean,
each of whom has one son.
For your records, I am David Ian Camidge, born 13 (it was a Friday!)
September 1963 in Guisborough. I would like to be able to help your quest for
information, but I am a twig that has dropped off the family tree and probably knows
less than you do about the UK Camidges. However, if anybody happens to
stumble upon a stray Camidge who married a Margaret Ann Muir during the late 1920s I
will be interested to hear the story.
I hope that this message might tie up a loose end somewhere and prevent the
US Camidges from wasting time chasing long-lost non-cousins in the future.
Best wishes,
Dave Camidge
