Interesting. Searching on the internet, found others interested also in
this family, who I guess you are in touch with - Shirley Duma for example.
The IGI has an entry for Annie's birth as you probably know, member
submitted
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
ANNIE CAMMIDGE
Birth: 12 FEB 1846 Of, North Burton, Yorkshire, England
Father: HENRY CAMMIDGE Mother: ELIZABETH COLEY
Not sure if you know, but North Burton is now known as Burton Fleming - see
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Burtonfleming/index.html
for more information about the place
Then I started doing a bit more investigation and the following marriage
came up:
#002684-75 (Grey Co.) Edwin CAMMIDGE 24, farmer, Eng., Keppel twp., s/o
Henry CAMMIDGE & Elizabeth COLLEY, married Isabella SIDWELL 21, Eng., Amabel
twp., d/o Luke SIDWELL & Elizabeth PENN, wit: Herbert W. JENKINS of Keppel &
Nellie MORRISON of Owen Sound, 17 Apr 1875, at Owen Sound. From
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~maryc/grey75.htm
Not sure if Edwin died in 1877? There is a gravestone mentioned on
following website - or was it a child - see
http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~clifford/Grey.htm
Taking the information that Edwin was in Keppel in 1875, there is in the
1871 Census Heads of household information on-line at National Archives of
Canada, a Henry Cammidge age 55, birthplace England, a farmer in Keppel,
Gray North, Ontario - so did the whole family come over to Canada? This
bears further investigation, but the full 1871 census entry was not
available as far as I could see, but perhaps worthy of further
investigation - here is the reference:
CAMMIDGE , HENRY
Sex: Male Age: 55
Birthplace: ENGLAND Religion: Church of England, Anglican
Origin: ENGLISH Occupation: FARMER
District: GREY NORTH ( 037 )
Sub-district: Keppel ( I )
Division: 1 Page: 62
Microfilm reel: C-9955 Reference: RG31 -- Statistics Canada
There was also
CAMMIDGE , CHRISTOPHER
Sex: Male Age: 25
Birthplace: ENGLAND Religion: Church of England, Anglican
Origin: ENGLISH Occupation: FARMER
District: GREY NORTH ( 037 )
Sub-district: Keppel ( I )
Division: 1 Page: 62
Microfilm reel: C-9955 Reference: RG31 -- Statistics Canada
so may be same family as is on same page
Anyway, with Edwin we now have another name for a child of Henry and
Elizabeth and going back to the IGI we can find:
EDWIN CAMIDGE
Christening: 16 MAR 1851 Flamborough, Yorkshire, England
Father: HENRY CAMIDGE Mother: ELIZABETH
and a bit more searching using the batch number unearths
GEORGE CAMIDGE
Christening: 24 SEP 1847 Flamborough, Yorkshire, England
Father: HENRY CAMIDGE Family
Mother: ELIZABETH
This bears further investigation, I would recommend the 1851 census is
checked for Flamborough. They were not there in 1861, nor in North Burton.
The 1851 census is available from East Yorks FHS on following site- the same
fiche or CD covers both Flamborough and Burton
http://www.eyfhs.org.uk/content/shop/1851_Census.html
http://www.eyfhs.org.uk/content/shop/shop.htm
and GENUKI has more info on Flamborough at
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Flamborough/index.html
Or you can check the 1851 census on-line with
Ancestry.com
Best regards
Andy Kerridge
