Hi Jodie,
Well, at least, I'm glad to see your family supporting this CAMIDGE
mail list by *participating*. I suppose until we get some other "talkative",
less shy CAMIDGES on this list, things will be pretty slow. And, sooner or
later, other CAMIDGEs will find us - when they get the "urge" to go exploring
the CAMIDGE name on the web, they will find us! ;o)
And, at least, whenever something new is discovered about the CAMIDGE
surname, everyone on the list will hear about it - regardless of whether they
participate or not! That's the beauty of these lists. You can sign up and,
if you're really busy and can't participate a lot, you still don't "miss
out"
on what's happening. When one CAMIDGE on the list finds something
interesting about the family history, their particular ancestry, or just
something interesting, he/she shares" it with the other listmembers by
sending out one e-mail to the entire list.
I don't know what other family surnames you (or those of your
immediate family) may be researching, such as on your mother's side of the
family/mother's maiden name, but if you haven't checked out the
"ka-zillion"
surname mailing lists, check out
www.rootsweb.com and look under "mailing
lists." You could sign up (free of charge) for another mailing list (in
addition to CAMIDGE-L) that discusses your mother's maiden name.
Rootsweb.com also has mailing lists that discuss family genealogy
"specific to counties/states" - which is helpful when you know a specific
"area" in which your family ancestors lived or died. That's how I found my
grandfather's grave - none of the family knew WHERE he died. But through
www.rootsweb.com and another site they sponsor,
www.USGenWeb.com, I found
my grandfather's grave. One "veteran" and very "knowledgeable"
genealogist
(who is the head of my county's genealogical society) had made the statement
that I was "looking for a needle in a haystack." She had truly tried to help
me but I didn't have a lot to go on. I finally found my grandfather's grave
thanks to
Rootsweb.com and
USGenWeb.com!! So, I can't say enough good things
about them!! .... Let's keep in touch and keep the CAMIDGE-L list alive -
keep the e-mailsflowing! ....
....Warmest regards... Carolyn and Cliff
P.S. Don't forget to check out Mike Camidge's website -
www.camidge.org He
has a lot of genealogy on there - he said he's still working on the site -
but what he has so far is wonderful! ;o)
