Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Jean,
I also connected them to Thomas B and Mary in the 1881 census; but there is a discrepancyg in there ages.
During the trip Mary has lost 4 yrs and Thomas 3 yrs. Also IF Thomas on the first crossing was Thomas B' son, he should have been 7 during the census - Where was he?
I still think it's the same family; but can't figure out the age differences.

That's wonderful. Camidge Thomas Booker and I think his wife would be Mary,
are the pair who lived at 7 Rock Mount North on the 1881 census.
Thomas would be the son of Henry Francis and his first wife, Mary Anne
Booker. THE Charles was father of Henry Francis.
I gave up on Ellis Island as they, as yet, have sailing lists only for
1898, 1904 and 1908.
I did find,
" The archives staff will search available indexed lists for you (first
request NATF Form 81 from Reference Services Branch (NNIR), National

Charge is about $10 per search.

Marcia, are you there?
If you request just for George Camidge age about 4yrs in 1880; if they
find him then you will know which ship he was on and perhaps then find
access to a search for other passengers.
Good hunting to everyone

My name is Brad Camidge. I am 31,still not quite as young as you ,but besides my immediate family( James and Annalee Camidge- father/mother ) I have never met another Camidge. I find it very interesting. According to The Oxford Dictionarary of Music the Camidge family span nearly 200 years of organists and composers in York, Mathew Camidge being one of the most recognized. I am a guitarist, singer, song writer, and as of 2 years ago a pianist. I am completely self taught. Piano comes probably the most natural. I am certain my ancestery plays a huge part in this. I would love to know from which of the Camidge musicians I branched from, even though I guess overall, it really doesn't matter!

I hate to be the sinic but I have to ask one question,
why does the name Camidge mean so much to you all?
The reason I ask is because I am thinking of
unsubscribing myself from rootsweb.
Anyone convince me to stay and I will.
I don't know, maybe its because I am only 19, and the
rest of you seem a hell of a lot older (no offence
intended). So please please don't take offence to this
but perhaps you all might enlighten me.
Cheers Dan

Adrian, Jean, and all others,
Here is the info I was able to get from the Ellis Island Records:
Name Ethnicity Place of Residence Date of Arrival Age on Arrival Gender Marital Status Ship Port of Departure
Camidge Emma U. S. Citizen English 18 8 1904 9m F Aurania Liverpool England UK
Camidge Mary U. S. Citizen 18 8 1904 43y F M Aurania Liverpool England UK

Camidge William British English 20 10 1924 41y M Orbita Hamburg Germany *He is a member of the ship's
This search was for "Camidge". I think that Camage, Cammidge, etc. will require separate searches.
Note1: I think that William John Camidge is really John William Cammidge, son of John Cammidge & Rose Hannah.
The 5 instances of his name in this list represent five separate trips as a crew member of the Orbita.
Note2:
Mary(43), Thomas (30) & Emma (0) arrived 18 aug 1904
Mary (47), Thomas Booker (50), Emma Winfield (4), Esther (16) , Lena (18)arrived 26 Jan 1908
Mary and Emma came over twice (maybe more, since they are listed as US citizens on the first arrival.
Thomas was 30 at that time. Thomas Booker was 50 when he came over 4 years later, so Thomas was probably the son of Thomas Booker and Mary.
Note3: There is much more info at this site, including the complete passenger lists and photos of the ships.

Hi Carolyn
I thought for a moment that your husband had been ill, well I suppose net
surfing is a disease! I have got the genealogy disease at the moment.
Determined to clear up connections. Progressing well with my own. Waiting
for one more bit of mail (then it will be another bit of mail)
I had a good look last night at Marcia's information.
I wonder where one can get lists of passengers. It is generally at the point
of entry not departure.
Ask the so called boss for a second access for email! can you get it on your
TV screens?
Keep smiling

Jean,
For passenger list, you might try the new: www.ellisislandrecords.org
It is very busy and hard to get into. You have to just keep trying. It is also very slow.
I have found that there are 16 Camidge's (11 if you eliminate what appear to be duplicates) and one of them is Joseph Camidge. There may be more if you search for Camage, Cammidge, etc. Because it is so slow, I haven't been able to look at the individual records yet, except for these two:
Camidge Emma U. S. Citizen English 18 Aug 1904 9m F Aurania Liverpool England UK
Camidge Joseph British English York, England 19 Jun 1910 24y M S Cedric Liverpool England UK
NOTE: The column headings do not copy with the data from this site, you really need to look at the site. (ie: Aurania and Cedric are ships names and the dates are dates of arrival, etc
As I dig out more of this info, I will pass it along.

Hi Jean,
Sorry that I have not replied before now. I homeschool two teens, I drive
the Amish (they don't have cars and sometimes need to go farther than their
buggies allow. But they are not good at much advance warning.) and I count
nuts and screws and nails and package them as a home based business(although
I am not sure I will keep doing this as it takes over your life). I have been
very busy and my husband travels out of town for his work.
I have just been overwhelmed lately and Camidges have not been high on the
list. I'm not sure I am high on the list either!! LOL
Yes I have a Bible but the marriage dates were for Sadie's parents. I am
not sure when Sadie and George were married. I have a copy of a census for
1900 that shows them married and living in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in the
US with a boarder named Amy Fitzroy. It was enumerated ( info gathered) on
June 1st or 2nd in 1900 and shows them married 8 of 12 months so they were
probably married around October of 1899.
It shows George being born in December 1875 in England and both his
parents being born in England. It says that he was Naturalized in
Pennsylvania. That he imigrated to the US in 1880 and had been in the US 20
years at the time of the census.
Interestingly enough, the boarder Amy Fitzroy shows she was in the US for
10 years was only 19 at the time of the census and was married for 1 year but
no mention of the husband or where he was or how she came to be a boarder
with George and Sadie.
I do know that George was later married to Katherine and lived in St
Louis, Missouri in the US and that she lived there until her death.
More info later.
Marcia Camidge David
Thanks all for all your help and care!!! I would love to be able to find
George and his parents before my Dad dies. ( But don't worry he is very
healthy and feisty for a 75 year old!!)
Hold on, Carolyn
I've barely got time for all this Camidge research. You'll just have to do

Oh well!! <G> Our loss! But I know what you mean ... I belong to several
lists right now and keeping up with the e-mail is getting to be a bit much!!!
A couple of the lists are ESSENTIAL though for me ... I belong to the
COMPUTERS-L, the VIRUS-L and WINDOWS-FOR-DUMMIES-L e-mail lists which have been
INVALUABLE to me! I have learned SO much ... with yet SO MUCH more to
learn!! To all...Have a great week!! ... Carolyn
Hello to the list! It **must** be a very pretty
weekend for everyone <G>; no CATS-L traffic going
on! Anyway ... Beanie and other furry company
and I just wanted to say hello and have a GREAT
weekend! .... Warmest, fuzziest wishes to all...

"Irene Baillargeon has another great-grandchild. Her granddaughter, Crystal Camidge, had a son, Jayden Anthony born on the 26th. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces."
I think that Irene would be Irene Adner who was the wife of Cleon W. Camidge.
Irene and Cleon were the parents of Douglas James Camidge who married Kathy Lago.
James and Kathy had a daughter named Crystal Gail.
Can anyone verify any of this?
Also Jayden is an unusual name. Does anyone know if that is correct or possibly a misprint?
Does anyone know who Crystal married?

Hi Carolyn
You poor dear. I am so pleased though that your worries are over. I think a
lot of people are not as smart as you, they do not know what a virus is. I
did read that a lot of people think they are protected if they have a
circuit braker!
Best wishes.
Keep taking the vitamins to strengthen your antibodies against bugs!!!

Dear List:
I apologize but I need to let you all know
that it appears I have a virus on my computer. I
feel safe sending this e-mail to the list because
rootsweb doesn't allow any attachments just so
they can prevent viruses from spreading. But any
of you who have received e-mails from me since the
10th need to check your computers. I don't think
you will be infected **BECAUSE** I have a firewall
on my computer and this particular virus is
actually a "worm". It is W.32BadTrans.13312@mm
and the "@mm" means it does the mass mailings to
folks from the infected computer's address book.
**HOWEVER** the program doing this has to access
the internet and my firewall has asked repeatedly
the last couple of days whether this file can
access the internet and I have *repeatedly* said
NO - **disallowing internet access** because I
didn't recognize that file. I asked someone on
the rootsweb COMPUTERS-L mail list about the file
and she gave me a forum website to read up on it.
>From there, I went to Symantec's website and sure
enough ... there it was!
I wanted to warn you all because I **do NOT** want
to be responsible for infecting anyone's
computer. At present, I have no idea who gave the
"virus/worm" to me. I went to Symantec's website
and verified that this *IS* a new virus/worm and
has just been discovered on April 11th. As best
as I can determine, the files involved will be:
C:\windows\system\hksdll.dll
C:\windows\system\kern32.exe
c:\windows\inetd.exe
It's possible also that CP_23421.nls might be one
of the infected files but I don't know that for
sure yet. I am in contact with Symantec to get
their assistance now.
I truly hope none of you have been infected but be
on the lookout! ... Kind regards... Carolyn
P.S. I may be "out of pocket" for a while until I
get this mess straightened out. Mike, if you
have any helpful info for me ... let me know "via
the list" -- I don't dare e-mail you privately
right now.
Greetings Marcia 16th April '01
I have been checking your several requests to find the elusive George.
Could you please update me, by going back to square one.
I have a copy of a letter from you, taken from Camidge roots archives.
To quote " I am looking for George CAMIDGE's birth place in England or the ship he came over on and when. I have info from 1900 census that he was in this country (USA) for 20 years and that would make him about 4 when he came. I am assuming this info is correct but it may not be."
Questions:
What do you understand by "being in this country for 20 years" ? Does that mean he could have been any age when he arrived in USA, 20 years before the census ?
Or was he 20 years of age?
Which area does the census cover?
If the census was taken in 1900 he could not be any George, on the 1881 England census, for he would not have been in USA for 20 years; 18 possibly 19 years at most.
Have you checked imigration ships prior to 1900 to see when a George came/went over? It's tedious to trawl but often the only way.
If he was only 4 would he not have been accompanied by adults?
Are there any family history societies in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area who could trawl their archives for the birth of Joseph Paul, to get an address where he lived/was born?
Same for St Louis Missouri.
Where did Sadie marry George?
How is Sadie recorded on the 1900 census?
I think that will do for now, yes?
Best wishes
Jean
