Hello list,
I read a post today that jerked me right back into reality.
"Genealogy without documentation is Mythology"
OUCH!
I have everybody documented but John J. Cameron is still speculation.
I will post the documentation that I do have,
Keep in mind that I have the circumstance of John J. and his neighbor Daniel,
son of Allan Cameron of Lot # 11 Con 4 Kenyon (Documented)
John "Camron"
The 25th of May was baptized John aged three weeks and two days of the
legitimate marriage of John Camron and Flory McDonald in the 4th Con. Kenyon.
Sponsors, Elder Alex'r McKinnon and Catherine McDonald
signed J. M'Donald P.P. St. Finnan's (this is the same name as Daniel
Cameron "the neighbor's" mother).
*Now let's remember that I have a document that shows John's b-date as May 1
1845, and another that states 1844. The 3 weeks and two days is real close
and could be called a match depending on the time of day on May 1 he was
born. I still can't get past the year being 1 year off.*
Donald Camron
Born April 17 1842 aged 18 days. Son of John Cameron and Flory McDonald Con.
4 Kenyon. (St. Finnan's records)
* John J. lived next to another "Daniel or Donald Cameron" in Mille Lacs
Minnesota who died Sept of 1869 of Typhoid. He is listed as 26 years old at
his death. Once again I am faced with a 1 year discrepency*
John Camron married Flora McDonell (McDonald) Sept 18th 1837 and lived on
Con. 4 Kenyon. John's parents were Donald Camron and Christy Camron also of
Con 4. (St. Finnan's records) *These are the Grandparents names for the
1st Daniel that I mentioned (his neighbor).
Now for the REAL interesting parts!
There were three John Cameron's on Con. 4 Kenyon!!!!
One died on Aug 3. 1861 He lived on Lot#27 Con. 4 Kenyon He was 70 yrs old.
If my John's dad was born in 1791 then he would have been 53 when he had John
J. There is no mention of a wife but it does mention that his son Donald was
present at the funeral. (John and Flory had son Donald).
Then there was a John Cameron Sr. who died Feb 16th 1871 at the age of 88.
And his son John Jr. who could not have been my John's father. They lived on
lot #7 Con 4 Kenyon.
Now to summarize,
In all of the records of St. Finnan's and St. Raphael's in Glengarry. The
only John Cameron birthdate that comes remotely close to mine is the son of
John and Flory Con 4. This John and Flory have family ties to John J.'s
neighbor Daniel Cameron in Aldrich, MN.
I either have to believe that this is my John's family or start looking again
in other area's of Canada. I just wish that I had some other form of
documentation that would support the theory.
John J. died in Delano, MN. and is buried in St. Peter's Cemetery there. It
is stated that he was a member of that church. He could have only been a
member for about two years. Would there be any type of record for him in the
church that would have listed his lineage? I have his death cert from Delano
and it is useless.
Thanks for letting me ramble away,
Dean
