I'm watching the list and have seen postings for Duncan Cameron. I have one
in my family as well. He came to Illinois from Redgorten, Perth, Scotland in
1881 with his parents John and mother Margaret (Kerr) Cameron.
This particular Duncan married in Streator Illinois to Emeline Gay. Emeline
was born Aug 19, 1867 and died July 15, 1890 during childbirth of her second
child. My grandfather, John George Cameron was her first child, born Jan.
21, 1888 in Streator, Illinois.
Duncan remarried, moved to Oklahoma and had two additional children (James
Cameron and Sarah (Cameron) Gallagher. My grandfather, John George Cameron was
raised by his uncle, brother to Duncan Cameron. The brother was WPK (William
Patterson Kerr Cameron and he also lived in Lehigh, Oklahoma.
The parents, John and Margaret Cameron are buried in the Lehigh, Oklahoma
cemetery. John died Oct. 1, 1892 and Margaret Kerr Cameron died July 5, 1895.
John was a miner as many of these Cameron family men were in Oklahoma.
Duncan Cameron was born in Dalkeith, Scotland June 22, 1860 and died in the
coal mines Dec 2, 1920. He is buried in Lehigh OK Cemetery. I have found
names that I believe to be his siblings:
a. Janet Cameron Christened May 12, 1849 in Redgorton, Perthshire Scotland
b. John Cameron Christened Mar 23, 1851 Redgorton, Perthshire Scotland
c. William Pattern Kerr Cameron christened May 15, 1853 Redgorton,
Perthshire Scotlane.
d. Catherine McIntosh Cameron b June 17, 1855, Dalkeith Midlothanian Scotland
e. Elitzbeth Jane born April 21, 1858 Dalkeith, Midlothian Scotland
and finally Duncan born June 11, 1860, Dalkeith, Midlothian Scotland.
Don't know if this will help anyone but thought I would offer what I have.
Most of my Camerons either settled in Oklahoma with some moving to California.
Happy Holidays. Sunny
