Hi everyone:
Just got back from Scotland on Monday. Went to Culloden Battlefield. It was quite
touching to see a hugh mass grave where the Camerons were buried after the battle, with a
rough stone at the head saying simply Clan Cameron.
Went to Auchincarry and just missed meeting Colonel Sir Donald Cameron of Lochiel by just
a few minutes. He just happened to come up to the museum to visit that afternoon and as I
had trouble finding the place by the time I got there he was gone. It gave me a thrill to
see his house, the remains of the old castle and the flag of Cameron of Lochiel flying
above his home.
I am still searching for my William Cameron who supposedly came to America after the
Culloden Battle, arriving in North Carolina. His son, William Jr. moved to Sc and then to
Christian County, Ky where he died about 1811. William Jr. married a Nancy ? and they had
the following children:
John
Jessie
Nancy
Margaret
Daniel
Mary
William Cameron came to America with three brothers, John, Ewen and Donald about 1747.
Can anyone help me locate William.
William Jr. could have been in Tennessee prior to coming to Kentucky.
Sue
