Subject: Re: [CAMERON] Charles Cameron descendants
Hello Sheila:
It was a good barbecue. Thanks for waiting!
Now to answer. I have seen all of those names in Cameron files. My big
problem is that there is no mention of parentage or siblings. Charles was
born just after a very dicey time politically speaking in Scotland and
that family was the Clan Lochiel.
Much had happened and I believe they were 'low key'. Certainly Kilmallie
and Kilmonavaig were their places of abode. Tell me what you have for the
1700's and early 1800's.
I think 'my' Charles father was Donald b 1742 who was at the siege of
Louisbourg and also the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. Do a Google on
the Fraser Highlanders 78th regiment. There is a letter there written by
Donald to brother Ewen telling him what had just happened at the battle. I
traced the family and it matches the story a cousin has told me about the
Camerons and Lochiel. This was 1759. I am at this time, after finishing
the rest of the history from 1783 to present looking for verification.
So--0 if you have any earlier dates I may be able to help. Do you know
about the DNA site at ?
http://www.clan-cameron.org/dna/results.html
I belong to the same family (not line though) as Participant # 29230.
There are about ten camerons with matching ist row of genes. If you
recognize any to which you belong let me know, please. I know there are
Camerond in Carolina etc. but not sure about Missouri. They did get around
though! Thanks for being in touch. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Delphine
