Recently went to Elizabethtown, KY to try to find info on my ancestor,
(Sarah) Elizabeth Cameron (Cambron). I knew she married in 1829 to
Samuel Philips. I got copies of the marriage bonds.
I also found two instruments that bound Elizabeth first to Samuel Helm,
then to Miles H. Chenoweth, the man who proved her age for the
marriage. She was a poor child of the county. I assume that means she
was an orphan.
Hardin Co, KY had several pages on the estate of Anguish Cambron
(sometimes Angus Cameron). He died in 1809. He had a widow, Hannah,
who married to a Prater, and two children not named.
There were only two early Cambron marriages in Hardin Co, KY--my
Elizabeth, and Benedict Cambron to Sally Ashbaugh on 9 Jan 1832. Is
this the other child, and my Elizabeth's brother??
I thought Benedict would be easy to find. I have found about 5, and
none fit the man I want.
I found a Benedict Cambron to Anna Ashbaugh on 15 Jan 1832 in Nelson Co,
KY (from LDS, KY IGI).
I found an Angus Cameron to Ann Haley 30 Oct 1794 in Fauquier Co, VA
(LDS, VA IGI).
Also, Angus Cameron received 400a in Fayette Co, KY in 1784, and 100a in
Nelson Co, KY in 1798.
An Angus Cameron/Cambron listed in Bullitt Co, KY and Hardin Co, KY in
1800--probably owned land in both counties.
I believe these Camerons are connected to the Washington Co, KY
Camerons.
Can anyone add shed some light on this Anguish (Angus), Benedict, and
Elizabeth???
