It is very kind of you to write about Hugh, Laura. Thank you. My
ggrandfather Hugh was born in about 1865 in Wisconsin, and I can trace his
life (or much of it): he lived in Eau Claire until about 1893, then Moscow,
Idaho, then Spokane, back to Moscow, then I guess died in Spokane.
BUT, I'm now wondering about his older brothers, William and John, who
disappear from Eau Claire. If they follow the family pattern, they worked
for Union Pacific or lumber companies, and might have gone further west
after Wisconsin in the 1880's.
And I haven't been able to understand if my Camerons had relatives in Eau
Claire, though I've tried the E-C listserv. There was a family story that
when someone went back there to visit, he was asked by a stranger: "Are you
a Cameron?" just because he was so tall. That would imply that there was
more than one family.
Thanks again,
Ann Cameron
