Hi Kay
Thanks for replying.
I returned yesterday from Cumbria. I visited the archives in Whitehaven and
looked through the 1851 and 1841 census for Wigton, unfortunately John nor
his family were there. I also checked Woodside, which I believe is an area
next to Wigton as I saw another Cameron, a possible brother to John, was
born there.
I am hoping to find John Cameron via possible siblings. I have found a
William Cammeron and a Joseph Cameron. Both were born at the right time so
am hoping they are from the same family. William was born at Moresby,
though lived and died in Dearham. I checked the Dearham census for 1851 but
did not have time to check Moresby.
I know this is a 'fingers crossed' job but do not have anything else to work
on.
Best wishes
Yvonne.

How about trying the early census returns, John might still be alive
and
his place of birth might be mentioned
