I received today in the mail a copy of my gggrandfathers naturalization
papers from Mille Lacs, MN. in 1867. John J. Cameron came to America in
Sept. of 1863 through the Port of Ogdensburg, NY. He made his way to Mille
Lacs in 1867 May 10th. With so many John Cameron's out there I would be
skeptical as to whether or not this were he, if it were not for the fact that
it has his signature on the 1867 document. It matches the other signatures
that I have for John.
I received this information from a wonderful and very helpful genealogist by
the name of Joanne Sher. She is on the Minnesota-L mailing lists if you need
her. Her fees are very reasonable and she has been very successful at
helping me break down my brick walls. Thanks Joanne!
Now I have to search in the NY area for more information on my Cameron's.
There is an Alexander Cameron of interest there. (can't these Cameron's come
up with more imaganitive names!) If your Cameron's were from the Ogdensburg
area let me know.
Thanks,
Dean
